August 13, 2008 ‘Tropic Thunder’ Premiere!
The stars came out to support Ben Stiller at the Los Angeles premiere of Tropic Thunder on Monday. During the event, many people were out front picketing the movie because they believed that people with mental disabilities were being made fun of. However, Ben said that it was not the case.
“It’s sort of edgy territory, but we felt that as long as the focus was on the actors who were trying to do something to be taken seriously that’s going too far or wrong, that was where the humor would come from”…Tropic Thunder cowriter Etan Cohen [added] “Some people have taken this as making fun of handicapped people, but we’re really trying to make fun of the actors who use this material as fodder for acclaim. The last thing you want is for people to think you’re making fun of the victims in this who are having their lives turned into fodder for people to win Oscars.” E!
I honestly can’t say anything regarding this situation, because I have not seen the movie, but for those of you who do see it today let me know if it is worth spending money. View pictures of Katie Holmes rocking it out in a pair of Jimmy Choo sandals plus more after the jump –

This movie is DEFINITELY worth your money. I went to the midnight showing, and it was absolutely HILARIOUS! I don’t know how else to describe it. Awesome movie, amazing cast… especially Robert Downey Jr., he definitely steals the show. I’m so, so, so happy that he’s back on track with his life. This is the summer of RDJ.
But yes, definitely worth seeing. A sidesplitting movie. I LOVED it!
