August 6, 2008 Tyra Banks, The New Mrs. Obama!

As juicy as that sounds, it’s only some what true. The splendiferous Tyra Banks covered the September 2008 issue of Harper’s Bazaar and on the inside she dressed very much in Michelle Obama style. It was finished off with an Obama look a like and a little girl under the desk in the Oval Office. Take me higher lord – it looks like everyone is jumping on the Obama train. This could mean that he’s closer to the White House than everyone thought. Thoughts?

  • I don’t know B, i was watching CNN last night, and the polls are really close. Obama only have a 5% lead, which everyone was saying should be larger. Anywho, i know i get my Barack the vote tee coming in the mail any day. And leave it to Tyra to make a statement out of a magazine cover…she better do it!

  • While I do beleive that Tyra could be the next Oprah, I think her as a first lady is going a little far. I mean it’s just not gonna work! I can just see her walking into an intelligence meeting and saying, “I have two photos in my hands, and only one of them represents the country that we give government aid to…”

  • I’m just happy that I can turn on the Tube/TV and see people from my skin, growing up it was just Cosby and Different world, and the rest was not of my kind…..

  • I totally agree this new era is taking off and I am so loving the photo. They rocked it. She looks great as always

  • who is that fake obama? he is fine!

  • Meehsuee i think what you said was so innappropriate, im black and i hate these racial lines that black people put up they segregate themselves from other races. i hate when black people say i want to see ‘my’ people on telly. why the fuck are they your people just cuz they are black, theyre as much your people as any white person is. i dont think it makes a difference what skin colour you are its ridiculous that black people think that they are somehow linked with other black people just cuz they are black you dont see white people saying i only want to see white people on the tv they just dont give a crap they just watch the tv.

  • Yes, it does seem that everyone is jumping on the Obama bandwagon. I just hope that people take time to research the issues that need to be addressed in this country.

    Oh, cute pic Tyra.

Mat, i think that you’re reading way more into what was said. The fact that of the matter is that more often than not, blacks are not portrayed in a positive light on television and the same can be said for other ethnic groups as well. To deny that would be to deny all of the efforts that black actors and actress have made to break out of stereotypical roles. A battle that they are still fighting to this day actually.

  • I love the photos

  • It’s a stretch to call Tyra the next Oprah. Too soon to tell and even then… there can’t ever be another Oprah. Now, I think the photo shoot is nice and shows a unity that many Black people feel about the Obamas. They are a beautiful, intelligent, loving Black family. We’re over the moon at having a real family to show the world that not all of us are negative, stereotypical and classless.

It might seem like its a bandwagon thing but, really, its more like a pride thing. And, yeah, when you’re proud of something you want the whole world to know. Obama has a presence that brings that out of people. How has that turned into a bad thing?
