July 24, 2008 Sarah Vaughan Is Just What I Needed..
.. tonight! Love muffins sometimes we all need a little Sarah Vaughan in our lives and for me tonight I really needed a special dose. As soon as I turned her on, she put me instantly at ease and my soul was at peace. Here’s the jazz legend singing one of my favorite songs of all-time,”Send In The Clowns”, with the Count Basie Orchestra, Carnegie Hall (1981). Love muffins get into this!

This video never gets old. She built this song up to the end and tears will flow if you have a soul. By the end of the song you want those clowns to come in and cheer you up.

Sarah Vaughan is, in my opinion, the greatest vocalist of all time. Her range and musicality was incredible. She was never off key and could scat like a horn player…funniest thing is that you’d would think she’d be really focus on stage, but apparently her mind was elsewhere, thinking things like “What should I cook for supper” while singing ” Misty” or some other serious ballad!
Thanks Bscott for putting that video up!
