July 23, 2008 Movie Review: Mamma Mia/The Dark Knight
Mamma Mia:
I had the opportunity to watch Mamma Mia at a private screening before the movie was released last week. This romantic comedy was interesting to watch besides the fact that I cringed at hearing most of the actors/actresses sing. When everyone was not messing up the ABBA hits, the movie was rather enjoyable. Amanda Seyfried’s character decides to get married and wants her father to give her away, however there are three men who are possibly her daddy. If that isn’t juicy drama, then I don’t know what is.
The Dark Knight:
The Dark Knight was an incredible movie! The hype actually didn’t disappoint me unlike Hancock. If you have not seen this movie, please make your way to the theater asap! The Dark Knight was very different from the second Batman movie with Jack Nicholson, very gritty. In my eyes, Heath Ledger was a better joker than Jack Nicholson only because I felt the pain more. Jack was more of a jokester – more into playing games, while Heath was more of a psychotic killer. Without giving too much away the movie is centered around Batman not being wanted by the public anymore and how he should be punished for the laws that he has broken while trying to save the city from criminals. Heath was such a wonderful actor. His talent will be missed.

The Dark Knight was well worth the 2:45 minutes spent in the theater… The Joker is my new favorite villain… he scared me, because he was so unpredictable, I truly felt his insanity… Heath Ledger did an amazing job… I can only imagine how tiring it must have been to go in and out of character like that…and even though Rachel was boring, I’d rather have Maggie Gylenhaal in my face than the robotic Katie Holmes…
