July 19, 2008 New Music: Ne-Yo – Miss Independent
Ne-Yo is gearing up to release his third studio Year Of The Gentleman in about two weeks with his second single “Miss Independent” about to drop. Even though this sounds different from what I am used to hearing from Ne-Yo, I don’t think this choice for the second single is the right one. I have heard other songs from the album that would be much better. Maybe the video will make me like the song more. Thoughts?

I like it. Music now is made of cookie cutter artist, songs and beats. I like it when someone steps outside of their comfort zone and what fans are used to hearing to show their creativity so they don’t get stale. It still has Ne-yo’s head bobbing groove, you just have to know how to catch it.

I think it’s nice. A song that talks about how wonderful women are and how great she is for being independent. A breath of fresh air in an industry that does nothing but constantly talk trash about women. Nice to have a man give us our props instead of calling every woman a b*tch or a slut and having those kind of women represent us in their video.
Something different. Like it a lot.

I like it. It has that late evening, sun setting, cruise in your car kind of feel to it.

i like it – i like it a lot. lol. ne-yo has that musical swagger that could make me like anything he does. this is the kind of song u play cruising frm the beach reflecting on the good time u had there. i love ne-yo, the video should b hot ish..i hope
