June 25, 2008 Don Imus Being “Sarcastic”?

Don Imus and Adam \"Pacman\" Jones June 25, 2008Lawd have mercy kelly clarkson eddie murphy! This is another strike on radio host Don Imus because his trump foolery. First, he disrespected the Rutgers’ women basketball team by calling them “nappy headed ho’s” on his WABC Show in April. Then on his Monday show, while discussing Adam “Pacman” Jones with a sports announcer, he gave us another reason to add a strike to a list of his monkey doodle foolishness. If you didn’t know Pacman Jones (who happens to play for the Dallas Cowboys) has been arrested six times and they were discussing his latest bout with the law. While in discussion, Don Imus asked, “What color is he?” The sports announcer responded, “African American” in which Imus responds, “Well there you go, now we know”. Take me higher lord – he then left it at that. When confronted about it the next day he responded:

“What people should be outraged about is that they arrest blacks for no reason,” he said. “I mean, there’s no reason to arrest this kid six times.”

If that’s what he meant, I think he would have clarified it when he said it instead of waiting until he got into trouble. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, but I’ll be damned if there will be a third time. Thoughts?

black folks are too freaking sensitive. everything is a race card to you. what you should do is to clean up your folks from calling each other the *N* word.

  • it’s hard to not be sensitive when we have been through almost 200 years of slavery, and continue to be discriminated against and oppressed. but, i won’t argue that we need to start within our own community before trying to change stubborn, hick, ignorant white people. it’s very hard not to fall into bad habit though when most blacks are practically screwed from birth.

  • it’s kind of hard to gage what he meant. i mean, automatically we’ll think the negative part because of what he said about the basketball team which was beyond f*cked up. um, simply because he is a sports announcer i don’t believe he really needed clarification of what color adam is. he could very well have been referring to it being beyond stupid that they should have arrested this man six times. BUT as i said before it’s hard to tell what the man meant. either way, pacman has gotta clean his act up because this man has been arrested 6 times and just had another run-in with the law. he’s gotta re-evaluate what he’s doing with himself. when the same kind of shit keeps happening like that you gotta look at yourself and see what you’re doing wrong

  • no reason to arrest someone 6 times? uhhh yeah if the person is committing a crime each time..

this man is smart enough to know that .. let alone try and cover it up with.. that excuse…

either way..everyone should shut up.. they put him back on after that racist shit.. and he’ll probably stay on… racism is everywhere from black commericials only on bet… and so on…

and i agree with the first one comment also.

  • This old man is a racist ass hole, and he just need to crawl under a rock and hide! I’m not really shocked at what he said, I mean look at him, don’t he look like he owned a plantation before LOL!

  • Bottom line is you can’t make a tiger change his stripes. Just because he is on the air doesn’t make him feel any different about minorities. It’s the way he feels. Should he be allowed to broadcast that backwards ass mentality all across America? No, but our country has been run by people who think exactly like him for hundreds of years. The only thing to do is to keep it moving…

  • Imus needs to cool it with the racist remarks already. I am NEVER one to pull the race card…I don’t even have one, but what he said was in fact racist. Plain and simple. Whether or not Adam Jones is black was totally irrelevant to the conversation they were having. It was pointless of Imus to even ask “what color is he”.

  • LMFAO @ lavette on imus lookin like he used to own a plantation. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sorry, but I think people are just being too sensitive about the whole “white people are racist against black people” thing. AND I’M BLACK. I have a hard time not saying, “Can’t you take a joke?” whenever I hear stories like this. Come on people! Chris Rock, Martin, DL Hughley, Eddie Murphy, Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, Bernie Mac, they all make white jokes all the time and everybody lauqhs it off. We all think it’s funny, not offensive. They’re just jokes people! Don Imus is on my bad side about the whole nappy headed hoes thing, but I’m just not that upset with this one.

  • I don’t know about this guy. “They” say he has built most of his career on talking out of his ass. If so what’s the big deal? I would like to think that we should be able to say discuss things and not be chatised. He didn’t call anyone out of their name this round. I think he will always be watched with a crooked eye because of his past. I mean he was hired because of this mess, leave him & his crazy comments be. As hard as it may be, let’s worry more about building our community instead of worrying about those fools who try to damage it.

  • Im a black woman and I wasn’t offend by this comment or by the comment he made about the rutgers women. To me, people are being too sensitive. Black men make comments everyday that aren’t right, but the minute a white man says it.. everyone wants to jump up and pull the race card. I personally think he did what he did in order to avoid this type of scrutiny.. it may have backfired but I think people are misconstruing him
