June 10, 2008 Madonna Hires Divorce Lawyer!
Word has it that Madonna has hired Britain’s most powerful & toughest lawyer, Nicholas Mostyn, & will be divorcing her husband of 8 years, Guy Ritchie. “Growing apart” is the reason cited for the divorce, with Guy working on new movies – Madonna with a new album and her tour. The recent adoption of baby David allegedly put even more strain on the marriage. Supposedly, the couple does not have a prenup, so Guy could be entitled to half of her fortune – HALF! According to Forbes, Madonna made $72 million last year alone, so Guy could pocket a lot of money after the divorce. Love muffins, I hope that is just a rumor regarding the status of the prenup. Madonna is a savvy businesswoman, so I think she is much smarter than that! And I am not shocked it has come down to a divorce, because we have been hearing about separation rumors for awhile now. I just wish more marriages in Hollywood would last. Thoughts?

I’m awaiting the bad press about this information. I’m sure that she will be raked over the coals for divorcing after the adoption became legal, which would be unfortunate. I think that reports of her wealth are under-exaggerated. She has a massive art collection and no doubt received considerable stock option from the Time/Warner/AOL deals. The woman is a beast in the boardroom. I doubt highly that she wouldn’t have a pre-nup. I’ll wait for an official announcement from Liz Rosenberg before I put though the divorce rumors though. Secretly I do wish she would move back to the States. I miss her.

i wonder if her not having a prenup is true because i remember when brit got married and didn’t want one madonna jumped all down her throat about it and STRONGLY encouraged her to get one. who knows, maybe she didn’t want brit making the same mistake she made. i wonder tho………

Madonna is a business woman before anything else. She’ll survive this. And I mean Guy was another one of those that really thought he was doing more than he was.

I honestly didn’t believe the rumors of them splitting. I thought they had that white Will and Jade thing going on. Guess not. I don’t put it past Madonna to not have a Pre-nup because she wasn’t as rich as she is now when they got married. It was after the marriage that she really started to get her business savvy on. If she doesn’t, this is going to get nasty and fast!
