June 9, 2008 Robert Downey: Burger King Saved My Life

Robert Downey Jr. has credited fast food chain Burger King for helping him beat his drug addiction and resurrecting his career. In 2003, the actor said he was driving down California’s PCH with “tons of f**king dope” in the car. He decided to stop by Burger King for a quick meal, and afterwards began to ponder over his entire life. He goes on to say:

“I have to thank Burger King. It was such a disgusting burger I ordered. I had that, and this big soda, and I thought something really bad was going to happen.”

Afterwards, Robert proceeded to throw all his drugs into the ocean, and decided to clean up his act for good. Downey hinted that in his new movie Iron Man, when his character asks for a cheeseburger from Burger King after his captors release him, it is in direct reference to his own life.
I don’t know whether Burger King should be happy he holds them responsible for beating his addiction, or upset because he said their food was disgusting. Either way, I bet Burger King gets a few more customers out of this latest revelation. And Love Muffins, maybe someone needs to load Amy Winehouse into the car pronto and take her on a trip to see the King to see if this will work for her also!
