June 6, 2008 ‘Idol’ Calls Off Archuleta Concert!
Love muffins, the executives at American Idol are not playing when it comes to their contestants. Even though the contest is over, there is the ‘Idol’ tour and other things that the contestants are contracted to do. Well, David Archuleta’s dad took it upon himself to plan a concert in their native Utah to thank all of his son’s fans. That was put to a stop very quickly because it was not an “Idol sanctioned gig”. Take me higher lord! Someone needs to read the fine print. I understand wanting to do something to thank the fans, but they had to have known that would not fly. Thoughts?

Yea David’s dad is crazy but its his crazyness that will probably ensure that David becomes a star- look at Beyonce her dad was crazy too but his drive is what made her successful.

I don’t see why they won’t let him thank his fans. AI could have made an exception.

Daddy dearest indeed, Tonya.
I feel sad for David, it seems he has no control over his life.
I’m afraid that when he does gain control he may go left to rebel.
Dadenger has got to go. When will David be 18 anyway?

Well that is the problem in this kind of show, once they made you famous you will be contracted to do everything they want, especially you are NEW. Of course you can do whatever you want if you are not famous, but in that case they won’t sign you

David is a minor so his parents should be involved 100%. They have David’s interest in mind and Idol execs only have American Idol’s interests in mind. David is a good kid because his parents are there to guide his way. I am sure when David turns 18 y/o they allow him to start making his own decisions.

David’s dad is a good father.
If he was so bad, David would NOT have ended up to be such a decent and humble guy. A bit extreme to that end, but humble none-the-less.
