May 29, 2008 Is Tyra Banks The Next Stepford Wife?
Nope, but she is on her way to be the next Martha Stewart – her hero as she covers the New York Times Magazine . The big hair is a bit much, but her face is fierce.
Her brand, like her trademark ‘tough but still smiling’ smile, is consistent in all her shows: serious about the frivolous; empathetic and empowering; and always, always aimed at young women, across all races. It’s girly TV with a punch.
I can see Tyra being at the top with Martha and Oprah. Do you think she has what it takes?

Something about TyTy puts me off. I’m not really sure what it is. I think it seems like she’s trying too hard.

I absolutely love this photograph of Tyra! If anything, the betch can take a picture! I think she is well on her way to being the media mogul she aspires to be, but like maymajesty said, there is something about her that is off-putting sometimes. I’ve never watched her talk show, but love ANTM.

I have watched her show a few times. It’s okay. It’s not quite as classy as an Oprah show or Martha show, but it sure is doing better that that 1st season, which was “Maury Povich-ish!”

I’ve been watching Tyra’s show from jump and she’s doing her thing for young girls, I remember when Oprah’s show used to be trash t.v. but look at her now, she’s still here and something tells me so will Tyra. As for the picture, damn…although my hour glass is better hehehe no but she body kyaan done.

I think Tyra Banks is one of the best role models you can have… She’s a strong, black woman who keeps it real 24/7 and is making all dem coins using her brains and not just her good looks! Kudos to Tyra!

I like Tyra ok, but I haven’t really watched her show since the first couple of seasons. Honestly, I thought she would be cancelled by now. I am glad to know that she is doing so well. I like to see strong black women succeed.

I think Tyra will be the next Oprah. The woman is amazingly intelligent, articulate, and creative. I think she can do it all.

I love the pic! I like Tyra, but I can only take her in small doses. I think she has a complex about hair. Yup – and I cringe when I see her wearing that streaked-blonde lace front! And I think on that Top Model show, it’s more hazing than it is coaching. And her talk show can be downright stupid. I like the fact that she does great things for young girls. I’d like her to do more soul searching and come to terms with a few things about her self. Once she does that, she will really own her fabulousness!

I think that Tyra is great, but by no means will she ever have the same influence as Oprah. What separates Oprah from every other brand out there is the fact that Oprah owns her name and no one else… Meaning that Oprah is not a product endorser or pusher. When she likes something she promotes it because she likes it not because she’s getting paid to. The likes of Tyra (even Martha and every other celebrity) are hawking their wares everywhere. From Diddy endorsing Vodka – to licensing his name on clothing it doesn’t seem to end with celebrities. Whether it’s Beyonce hawking Samsung phones or Armani fragrences it doesn’t cease. Oprah promotes Oprah. From her O magazine – to the Oprah show, to XM Radio. Oprah is the brand with no one taking part of the back in. That’s why she nets 200 – 350 mln per year. And there’s no one in the game to top her.

Her show is just silly sometimes. Her undercover reporting, questions to her guest…. a lot of times there just isn’t any depth. She needs better writers. I’m actually watching the show right now and I wish she would let her guest finish a sentence. She’s a gorgeous and intelligent woman with good intentions, but I think her show is still immature in many ways.
