reasontou, I agree with you. Many of us grow up in the West, and this democratic and freedom of speech culture has been deeply rooted in us, thus we are unable to be open-minded enough and try to think in others' feet.

Anyone of us could say anything we want, and it's unfortunate and ignorant that many choose not to obtain a full understanding of the story before they open their mouths.. it's Ok, because it's the freedom of speech and we get to choose whether to listen to you.

However, Sharon Stone is a public figure and she said a very hurtful thing in such a wrong time. We are judging and criticizing her not because she voiced her opinion, but because she misjudged the responsibility she's given. She may be good at acting, but this thing only showed her ignorance and arrogance. again, how much can we expect in a hollywood star's intellectual capacity?

speak before you think public folks -- nothing wrong with voicing an opinion -- more people in the public eye should and don't - there is so much misery & injustice that needs to be brought to the attention of all of us.

But saying that working class folks of China got back some justice for bad karma of Tibet was really kind of stupid to say. What the heck did these innocent working / low income Chinese people have to do with the politics of their government -- they have no voice or vote.

Well, at least the off-base remark continues to criticize the Chinese government that still steps on human rights - but loves to get rich by selling us Capitalists products they make.

Rock & Roll and Blue Jeans can bring down communists walls around countries, it is the most mis-understood most powerful weapon we have that brings freedom to the people without firing a shot -- and such is happening right now in China as we speak.....it is slow, but personal freedoms and change are coming to China.

What if someone say that Katrina and 911 was "Karma" to the US ? Try to understand, even the people from Tibet went over to China to help them, and lots of innocent people died from this earthquake. Don't put salt on the wound please?

I love Sharon Stone, since I saw Basic Instinct back in 1993 ( I live in Portugal so I've only watched it after realesed in tv in my country) I was 12 yo.
I believe that she was just making a stat for what she truly stands... chinese culture is repressive in so many ways that she was just making an appeal for people around the world to open their eyes. Sahron you're forgiven...
Love ya Sharon, if you want to write me some day: gladstone.gander@hotmail.com

She shouldn't have said that. That's the equivalent of people saying Hurricane Katrina was God's way of trying to rid the world of a New Orleans because of it's low education, high crime, highest % of abortions, etc... No. You don't go around saying stuff like that, and she looks even worst for saying it and then trying to apologize for it. No ma'am.

o all of you accusing China's 'occupation' of Tibet, claiming 'Chinese have killed thousands of innocent Tibetan', a lie has relentlessly been disseminated by exile Tibetans, and swallowed by West media without any question of it's truthfulness, because China is a Communist regime, let me ask you some questions? Should anyone born into this world be as a slave, or a serf, traded as if stocks by his/her owner, and live a life in subhuman existence, life expectancy only last about 30 years, but was told must to worship the Buddha, obey the lama, so your next life will be born into a noble class? Should anyone be told all of your suffer in this life resulted from the sin committed by you in a past life? Should anyone live in a society in which children were sacrificed to perform religious ritual, most brutal punishment was perform to anyone dare to challenge the theocratic society's status quote ? Or should a social political system not to be separated from religion? Should anyone in this world be worshiped as if god, and also serve as political head. Should such regime to be overthrown and expelled? Yes, it was done by Communists, yes, people, innocent or guilty, were killed during process of social reconstruction, yes, policy mistakes were made.
But if you consider yourself a person truly believe in all the values of a modern democratic society, instead throw awful factless accusations around, you should try to understand the Chinese's perspective on the Tibetan issue, even you don't agree for many of what CCP have done to Tibet.

And to Dalia Lama, if you a truly compassionate person champion for human rights , I dare you to look into your regime's dark past, apologize. And stop current prosecution on those Tibetans who are in Dorje Shugden society.

I don't think she should've said it, but I can see where she was coming from. She was trying to point out that the occupation of China in Tibet is a bad thing, and really, it is. Whether that is due to karma or not, I don't know. Using the word karma probably did tick them off considering karma does play a huge role in buddhist practice.

I understand that she has bills to pay thus the retraction of her remarks which she whole heartedly meant and I agree with what she said. Its unfortunate that such a travesty has happened but China's treatment of Thibet is SICKKKKKKKK i.e. KARMA and I totally stand by what she ORIGINALLY SAID and not the comments geared at trying to keep her cheddar in pocket!!!
