May 14, 2008 Hillary Clinton Wins West Virginia!

Love muffins as predicted by early exit polls Presidential Nominee, Hillary Clinton defeated Senator, Barack Obama by a landslide in West Virginia. Before Hillary and her camp could even celebrate Senator, Obama gained two more Superdelegates making his lead even greater. Hillary went on in front of a packed room of supporters in Charleston, WV and stated she is “more determined than ever to carry on this campaign until everyone has had a chance to make their voices heard.” Love Muffins, with her big victory last night and several more primaries to take place, do you think Hillary should continue fighting or should she step down? Thoughts!

  • I think that it is in her best interest and the nations best interest to continue her fight for the presidency. She is not so far behind that it is impossible for her to win the nomination. Look at the 1976 democratic party nomination between Kennedy and Carter. Kennedy had close to 700 less delegates in his pocket but he continued. Why is everyone calling for her to step down when there is still a fight going on? Obama has not completely won and Hillary has not completely lost…..I say they keep going until its the last person standing. (BTW-I love that I can say last “person” instead of just the last “man”) :)

  • STEP THE HELL DOWN

  • I’ll say the only reason why Clinton is still in the running is because Obama is black. If Clinton were running this far behind a white opponent, she’d already be out of this race.

  • She should step down. I’m not trying to diss Hillary at all but the party needs to start unifying so we can be ready for the Republicans. Some have speculated that by her continuing in the race it’s enabling her to keep on receiving donations that would help with her enormous debt. Don’t know if that’s true or not but Hillary is smart like that. Do you Hillary. And Obama is doin’ it.. Two more superdelegates after the West Virginia Primary? Two today? (according to Yahoo)That’s what’s up!!! :)

  • I believe that it is in the best interest of the democratic party that she step down. It is now time for the party to come together and defeat the republican party.

  • If it is in her heart to continue, then I support her 110%.

  • I think she should do what she wants, I just can’t help but question her reason seeing as though most of the Democratic party is sending her a clear sign that she will not be the nominee.

  • Hillary’s like a hang nail, she just keeps on hanging on…her tired a$$ needs to step dowm, and let Barack start his campaign for the white house.

  • Mathematically Hillary needs to step down. She cant catch up with him in Delegates and now he leads her in Superdelegates. Right after she won West Virginia (who only had 10 delegates) he gained more SUPERDELEGATES..

I dunno. The math is not in her favor. Sorry..
I agree with the other poster! Say errr this was John Edwards leading her like this, she would stepped down! TRUST!

    Makes you say “HMMM?”

  • She needs to sit her ass down! If she were this far behind a white opponent, she would have dropped out already!

  • She’s a fighter. She’s fighting for this job and doesn’t care if her winning means the delegates overruling the popular vote. I used to hold it against her, but hey she wants to win and as long as she has a chance, why quit? Now personally, I’m not crazy about her and wish she would just go away.

  • Hilla-who? I’m with Barack..”Senator Clinton should run as long as she wants.”

Now, while that may be true..she really should do what’s best for the party and step the hell down so we can move on…it’s ova.

  • Yeah Hilliary take the back seat and let Obama campaign for the presidency cuz I am ready for change!

  • The FAT LADY is singing so LOUD!!! Why can’t Hillary hear her?!! Everyone else does! It’s over!!!

  • I know this is B.Scott’s site and he can post what he wants. And we all know is he is standing behind Hillary. So basically to B., it’s only news when Hillary is winning something. But when Barack is WHIPPING THAT ASS, not a peep from your boy B.!

She’s continuing to waste our time and her own money. I guess you can do that if you got money to burn. But to answer the question, the democrats need to unite sooner rather than later. So Hillary needs to take the L (loss) and keep it moving. Sorry B. :)

  • If she wants to continue she has the right to.
I just hope the democratic party can pull together whoever the nominee is to defeat John “Old Man” McCain.

  • i think she should still run, may the best person win, i like hillary and i also barack, i still havent decied who i am going to vote for.

  • I agree that the democratic party needs to unite sooner than later. Bringing our A game against the republicans in the fall will only be for our benefit.

  • B scott love muffin is being quite impartial about this isnt he.

I just cant comprehend why you would vote for Hillary or even support her campaign, but each to their own.

  • Momo,

What are you talking about? BScott always post the election results the day after the primaries regardless of who wins and loses. It’s not fair to imply that he’s being biased because he’s doing a lot better than the national media when it comes to being bias. Did anyone watch the election coverage on CNN last night? From the attitude of their commentators, you would have thought that someone pissed in the Kool-Aid. It’s irritating and shameful to watch.

Anyways, this is democracy. She should stay in the race until everyone has their vote counted. The rules committee and super delegates are going to decide this race. The rules committee won’t meet until May 31st and the super delegates won’t cast their official vote until August. Why would she quit now? Getting Hillary out of the race won’t unite the party because Hillary didn’t split the party. You can feed into the garbage you hear on MSNBC or CNN if you want, but Hillary is not at fault for this split.

  • First, crystal, hillary is ruining the party!!!thats a fact.
Look, there are a numerous reasons why she should step down. lets be realistic here:
    1) the math is not in her favor. There is no way that she will be able to gain 160+ within the remaining primaries. Impossible! especially with the way in which superdelegates are raining in obama’s corner.
    2) she can’t continue running the campaign when she knows that she is in so much debt. i mean hello swettie, the fact that u can’t even raise money from your so-called supporters speaks volumes.
    3) she is ruining the party and decreasing obama’s chances of winning in november all because she knows that the more damage she does now, the more likey people will vote for mcain. what does that all mean? well, 4 more years of buch admin ain’t gonna really fly which will mean that in 2012, should she run again, she will win whereas if obama wins, it will be tough to run against him in 2012 for office.
4)she does not have a valid reason to stay anymore. Experience doesn’t seem to be a significant factor anymore, yea, she could argue that she is winning the bigger states and the white working classes therefore she is more electible but suprise suprise, seems like that don’t matter if u are trailing behind in delegates. Screw all that big states thing and stuff about histoy. This year, its different. its all about change, changing history, changing politics, having a black man and a woman campaigning…
Basically, she should come and sing another day becuase this show is OVER!

  • JOHN EDWARDS IS ABOUT TO ENDORSE BARACK OBAMA!!!!! YES WE CAN!!!

  • I think she should still run because what people are missing is that it is increasing voter turnout for the democratic party. If she wants to continue on, by all means do so, but we need less of the Hard working “white” american comments. As a African-American, and a very hard working one at that, those kind of comments are divisive and she needs to be careful with her words going forward.

  • Although I support Barack Obama for President…I do feel that Hillary should keep running until the process is finished and there is a nominee. I understand that the party officials want to end this right now but i do feel in all fairness that because she has millions of supporters it would not be fair to end it before they placed their vote for her or Barack for that matter. She is only hurting herself right now because she is now millions and millions of dollars in debt….but! her husband is urrrrrr rich! so he can pay for it.

  • LMAO! Hillary is ruining the party by forcing them to adhere to the rules of democracy! HA! Gimme a break. You can harp on the math all you want, but neither of the candidates can reach that magic number without the super delegates. The super delegates won’t cast their votes until August. Who knows what could happen between now and then? They can vote however they want. Nothing is set in stone. It doesn’t matter if her campaign is in debt, most of Americans are also in debt. It makes her even more American! HA! She can campaign from now until Christmas if she feels like it. Her bills will be paid. She’s not hurting Obama by staying in the race. She’s helping the democrats. The democrats have had more airtime and media coverage this primary season than they’ve ever had before. Her so-called negative campaigning hasn’t even hurt him. He shot himself in the foot with blue-collar white voters. Those people in WV didn’t vote for her because they like her. They voted for Hillary because they don’t like Barack. If you assume that they will fall in line because Hillary is out the race, you’re mistaken. The fact that Obama ignored WV, along with other states he deemed unimportant doesn’t do him any favors either. White blue collar voters are the core of the democratic party. You can’t win the presidency without those voters behind you. Hillary has nothing to do with those voters disliking Obama. An endorsement from John Edwards isn’t going to help much. They don’t like him and that’s why she’s still in the race.

Obama supporters calling for her to quit aren’t doing him any favors. It’s not a good idea to piss off Hillary’s supporters. If he gets the nomination, Hillary’s supporters will decide who is president. If the democrats take control of congress, there will be limitations to what a Republican president can do. I think it’s likely that the democrats will gain control. Four more years of Bush won’t be possible. McCain (and other republicans) will try hard to distance themselves from the Bush regime. Some democrats might start asking “what’s the worse that could happen?”

  • She is not asking anyone to adhere to the rules of the party. It is quite the opposite, she’s asking the party to break the rules to allow her to earn the nomination. I am speaking about the votes in MI and FL. It was her surrogates, along with Governor Dean, that were at the helm of stripping the states of their delegates. Now that she needs them, she wants to change the rules in the 4th quarter. Taking a fight to the convention on a principle that you supported but now want to overturn, to benefit yourself, is not party unity.
Let’s not get it twisted, neither Senator Obama nor Senator Clinton will win WV in the fall. We have seen a pattern with the Clinton campaign and her recent comments were political. Much has been said about this “uneducated ethnic white” voting bloc. No one is getting the flip side. Clinton has disenfranchised the majority of voters. Her attempting to take the nomination puts many states out of reach. And that includes Ohio and Pennsylvania!
Only Senator Clinton can make this decision. If she choses to stay in and waste her hard working white supporters’ money on her vain attempt to grasp power, so be it.

  • And I have to disagree with the statement that Hillary has nothing to do with the divide. She and her husband have constantly stated that Senator McCain is qualified to be Commander in Chief while Senator Obama is not. It was one of her surrogates that branded Richardson a Judas after his endorsement. She is not the sole reason of the divide but she sure did help.

  • Thanks Shama. Good looking out!

I still feel the same way. Not that Crystal doesn’t give me something to think about…thought about it, nothing has changed. The democrats HAVE to start thinking about trying to defeat McCain. I’m not totally Pro-Obama, but I don’t want another Bush administration continuation (as I like to call Big Bush and Lil’ Bush). McCain will continue shoveling the bull-ish that Big and Lil’ Bush have been shoving at us for years. It’s time for change! Do I think Hillary can bring about change? Possibly. But I still think we need unity in the party, and although Hillary is not the total cause, she ain’t helping that much.

And WV is not voting for Obama because he is a black man. I really don’t think it’s because they don’t like him. And he knew that whether he went there and campaigned and talked until he was blue, he would still lose to ANY white person, man or woman.

  • Exactly Momo! West Virginia did not vote for Barack because he is black. He knew this! That is why he did not campaign there as much. I know people want to think about how far this nation has come regarding race but the fact is that there are still a lot of people out there who are ignorant. At first I was for Hillary because I thought she stood for something but I did my research and I think Obama is better. Hillary bashes Obama so much because she knows that he is a THREAT! Only a person who is scared of the fight bashes their opponent publicly whenever they can.

  • I think Hillary should continue as long as she has fight in her. I have to wonder how may people would be supporting Obama if he were not black. I think a lot of people have jumped on his bandwagon for that reason and that reason alone. I like Obama and think he is an intelligent person. I think he would be a great president. I think it is ignorant to vote for him just because he is black, though. I am willing to support whomever wins the nomination. I do think Hillary has a better chance of beating the republicans.

    As for Hillary…KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!

  • Yes Nurse Fab! i hope that people are doing thier research and not just voting for OBAMA because he is black but I am baROCKING my Vote!

  • NurseFAB is right, how many of you Obama devotees would have stood by him were he a white man? NONE. He has no real plans to help our nation that are originally his idea. I do remember the Clinton campaign accusing him of plagiarizing. Without Michelle, that man would have nothing to run on except rhetoric…well not that he isn’t using that now. “Vote for Change” ha!

Change is the expected outcome of any election. You know, they say most of Obama’s voters are post-college grads, that says alot about or nation’s failing educational system. You people should be able to see through his fluff! Besides, not to be religous, but doesn’t this seem very apocalyptic? All these people being drawn to Obama, a poilitician with nothing going for him BUT charisma, very much like the acension of Hitler in 1930’s Germany. I smell anit-christ on aisle 6. Do your reasearch people!

  • Anti-Christ? Ok!

Well, the majority of all politicians can be grouped into that category. They pretty much all say what they think we want to hear.

  • If anyone has failed to notice OBAMA is half white! Meaning he is a part of two different backgrounds and races. The fact that he is partially black does not matter for me. Besides all of Hilliarys ideas are not her own, like the gas proposal that she is talking about, it sounds a lot like the one McCain has been promoting.

  • I think some of you that are stating that Obama Supporters would not vote for him if he were white are incredibly incorrect. The last democrat candidate that ran on the change platform was none other than Bill Clinton in 1992, a campaign I had the opportunity of working for in Michigan. Bill Clinton ran as a agent of stage to the “experienced” George H.W. Bush so I think democrats need to stop with the divisiveness in our party. Whomever the nominee is, and it appears it will be Obama, we all need to stop with the bickering and come together to defeat Mccain.

  • Hillary is D U N N! Done. A done-dada! Hillary talks about experience. What experience does she have? Being First Lady of Arkansas and the USA does not give you experience. The only experience she has is her time in the Senate.

Hillary’s true colors have shown. She will do anything to get back into the White House. That’s why she stooped to all the dirty old school political tactics. We see right through her. She will say and do anything to steal this Presidency. (i.e. this bogus gas holiday…..give me a break!)

Obama does not need to select her as a running mate, because Hillary and Bill will see to it that he is knocked off and she will take over. The Clintons are dirty like that. Google and look at all of their scandals.

    Obama/ Edwards ‘08
YES WE CAN AND WILL WIN!
