May 4, 2008 Teen Carries Attached Baby After Birth!

Take me higher lord! A 17-year-old gave birth secretly while at home in Long Beach, CA. Then she walked to the nearest hospital which was just 4 blocks away with the baby still attached to her! As in attached, I mean attached with the umbilical cord! Jesus take the wheel!

The teenager said she was alone and taking a shower around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday to get ready for school. Then the contractions took over. “I felt his head coming, so I sit down and pushed so he could come out,” she said. Parra did not call 911 because the home phone was disconnected, and she did not want to wake the neighbors because it was so early. Instead, she wrapped the baby, got dressed and went to the hospital on foot…”We hear so much negative with teenagers throwing their babies in the Dumpsters,” he said. “This baby is fine, and hopefully there will be a happy ending with the extended family.”

I am extremely happy that the mother and the baby are fine – however, it is sad that the house phone was disconnected during this teens emergency. I haven’t always been this fly – I know what it feels like to not have a phone available when its needed… But what do you think love muffins? Do you think she did the right thing by not waking the neighbors up?

  • Her actions make me believe she is a responsible person with a general concern and respect for others. I believe she will be a great mom!

  • I agree with Maverick. She’s courteous enough not to wake the neighbors in her time of need…that says a lot.

  • She did what she thought was best. I am happy she did not toss the baby and she and baby are doing fine.

  • You still can dial 911 if your phone service is disconnected. Isn’t that nationwide.

  • She should of woke the neighbors up I am pretty shore they would understand because what if anything could of went wrong.

  • If it was me, I would have woken up the neighbors because I would be freaking out!

  • You CAN dial 911 from any phone, cell, house, even without phone service. I think that she still “kept her cool” and I wish her and the little one the best.

  • Hey at least she’s not like those irresponsible teens/adults out there who try and kill their babies by throwing them in the garbage like that.

She may have kept the pregnancy secret, but at least she was fully aware of it and she ended up having this healthy baby because she knew how to take care while carrying it.

Gotta give her 10 kudos for that. You don’t see too many teens/adults out there being THAT responsible.

  • I’m glad everything turned out ok, it’s a ton of things that could have gone wrong. They’re lucky. I just wish she’d gotten some pre-natal care. It had to be scary. I can’t imagine giving birth alone. I wouldn’t have woke the neighbors, but It had to be store of something open at the time. I would have stopped for help before I walked 4 blocks to a hospital. She had to be tired.

  • I think the girl should have called a neighbor. This pregnancy definitely has some shame attached to it – I really wished she had prenatal care. I would really like to see the father of the newborn involved.

  • what the fuck? wouldnt u be too tired to walk?

  • I’m so glad she did the right thing. That was very mature of her dispite hiding the pregnancy. I wish them well.

Actually, when you give birth, if it’s natural…no drugs, you get a burst of enery. I would compare it to the endorphines you get from working out. So I could see how she walked the 4 blocks. That’s not too far.

  • four blocks? you have got to be shitting me. did she tear? what about the afterbirth? she’s sore as hell. OMG. there are prepaid phones, people…the parents knew she was close to labor, WTF? Ugh.

  • You never know what you will do at the time of emergency. She made the best decisions she could given the circumstances.

In Florida even if the phone is disconnected. if you dial 911 it will connect to the emergency dispatch.
