Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Get Marriage License in Bahamas?

People has confirmed that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon has obtained a marriage license on the Caribbean island of Eleuthera, Bahamas.

According to marriage requirements for the Bahamas, a couple must be in the country for at least 48 hours, be over the age of 16 and have obtained a valid marriage license within 90 days, explains Monique Gomez, a Bahamian attorney in Nassau who specializes in family law. The source says that Carey did obtain a license in Eleuthera within that time period. And clarifies Gomez, “The minister would make sure [the license] goes into the registry. It’s still a valid marriage even if it’s not filed. Anywhere in the world.” The New York Post reported that the nuptials took place at Carey’s private estate off Eleuthera. Carey owns an estate on Windermere Island, which is an exclusive Bahamian island where the British royals vacation. Though there has been no official confirmation of the wedding, Linda Cannon revealed to E! Online, “He called and told us all about it.”

Love muffins, I’m not going to believe this until Mariah or someone on her behalf officially confirms it.

Update: Mariah’s appearance on “The View” which was scheduled to be taped on Monday, May 5th, has been canceled. No further details were given about the cancellation or about a new date for the taping. - Mariah Daily Journal

Update II: A representative at the island’s register’s office told MTV News on Friday that she has no record of a license in Carey or Cannon’s names.

   this supposebly be the concept of the new mariah carey video “Bye Bye” where Nick Cannon gives mariah carey a wedding ring and then they fly to Bahamas to get married and at the end of the video cannon dies and she sing the closing verse bye bye bye.

   Nope, not believing anything until SHE says so first. She is the primary source. What she says goes. And even if she doesn’t say anything, so be it.

   ^^ i agree with erica. although i do want to see mariah happy with someone, i wouldn’t want to find out like this. if she did get married, her ceremony should be private if that’s they way she wants it . even though i can’t stand jay z & bey , i feel the same about their situation. can totally understand them not wanting the paps and the news at their special day . they should be allowed to have some part of their life private .

   Sweety haven’t you heard about Mariah and TV interviews? She always manages to pull in the lowest ratings on a show EVER. That’s probably why her appearance was canceled, she’s a liability.
