Update: According to Eonline.com, CBS denies that Katie will be breaking her contract before it expires in 2011. Katie is “working hard and having fun,” she said. “My colleagues continue to impress me with their commitment to the newscast, and I am very proud of the show we put on every day.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, Katie Couric is expected to leave her anchor job at CBS Evening News possibly as soon as the January 2009 presidential inauguration. Although her contracts runs until 2011, Katie wants out and so do the execs. at CBS The potential move comes as a result of continual low ratings for the nightly newscast, a high (estimated $15 million a year) salary for Katie and pressure at the network to slash costs and attract more viewers. This is horrible news because Katie is the first female evening news anchor ever and it’s sad to see things aren’t working out for her. Do you all enjoy Katie or are you glad her time is almost up? Love muffins, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz announced they got engaged Wednesday! I want to send out a super duper congratulations to the happy couple! The couple has been together since the Fall of 2006.

According to Friendsorenemies.com, Ashlee stated that “yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged.”

Some months ago, Ashlee was seen wearing a “promise” ring on her ring finger. When asked about the ring, she replied “it just means that he hasn’t asked my dad yet” according to People.com

It seems like everyone in Hollywood is either getting hitched or pregnant or both. Again, congratulations to the couple!
