April 25, 2008 Mimi Proves That The Show Must Go On!
So love muffins today Mariah Carey (my Mimi) took over NYC’s Times Square to perform today on Good Morning America and contrary to what other websites have been reporting she did a great job! During her first performance of “Touch My Body” her back-up track (which almost every singer uses during live performances) started too soon and Mimi being the true singer she is, kept right on singing live! That’s right, the show must go on! And then at around the 3 minute mark of the performance, the back-up track skipped ahead again causing Mimi to turn to one of her backup singers and sing “Stop singing my paaaarttt…now babbbby…” in order to play off what had happened. So the bottom-line is that Mimi was going to sing live along/over the back-up track for “Touch My Body” which started skipping, but as you can hear she was singing live and still can sing every note live with or without the back-up track. Take me higher lord, I would have totally lost it but Mimi held it together but I could tell she was super duper pissed as anyone would be. Sidebar: Can we take just one moment to talk about how divinely splendiferous her body looked in that super duper cute pink mini dress!

she sounded horrible! she looked very prety tho…i just wish she’d stop performing in shades-it looks weird, especially when wearing pretty dresses. i’m wondering too, why are her dancers looked so rough and drab in all that gray and black. she had a beautiful sparkly set and she looked lovely, but her dancers wardrobe seemed off…

I was going to go there this morning, but decided not to get up so damn early lol. You had to be there at 6 a.m. sharp. You seen all those people there? I don’t think I would have gotten a front row seat AND I think I would not have gotten out of there to get to work on time lol.
Anyway, they are going to light up the Empire State Bldg. at 34th & 5th Avenue tonight with her colors “Pink Yet Lavender”. On the Regis show, she said that she is going to be the one to turn on the switch.

Now everyone knows that I don’t like, I LOVE me some B. Scott, but my boo somehow loses touch with reality when it comes to his Mimi…I guess I understand. But just to be clear, at 3:00 it is NOT a back-up singer, it is clearly her backing vocal she normally lipsynchs to (she has been doing this since 1997, I’m just happy it hapenned here and not on the Grammy Awards or Idol), but no biggie, she saved it and belted most of the end herself. She did look AMAZING! WOW! What a gorgeous, and beautiful woman. Damn sexy as sexy can possibly be. Mariah could have easily been a Miss Universe winner with her exotic looks and height.

she had no choice,but to sing something. If she didn’t she would have looked more foolish for starting off with a loud background track. She is not dancing. Barely walking. She should have been able to sing us under the table. She still using background tracks on the other performances. I know some of you all think Mimi is the best thing since Showers. HOwever, she sounded a mess, with and without background tracks. She is now a studio singer.

The bottom line is Mimi was horrible – no excuses, and the bottom line is a true diva doesn’t use back-up vocals especially with a full band and “3 background singers”… I expect this from the Ciara’s, Ashanti’s and even Beyonce but NOT Mariah Carey. I can see if she was dancing and twirling all over the stage but that wasn’t the case….thing’s that make you go hmmmmmmmm?!!

I am an official LAMB! I love Mariah and always will. However, the truth is the truth and SOMETHING is going on with Mariah’s live performances. She is not sounding as good as she should. I don’t know what she’s doing, if she’s smoking weed, or cigarettes or something but she really needs to get back to form vocally because people are starting to take notice.

It was not her best. This is not a show must go on moment. Beyonce falling down the steps and going like it was nothing is a show must go on moment. Janet’s boob popping out and her still singing is a show must go on moment. This is a ooops Im caught damn now I really got to sing. That is what this is all about. The dress was Hot!!!!

Mariah Carey is a very talented woman, and it’s not my place to change the minds of those who may think otherwise.
There are times when live performances just aren’t perfect. This happens to be one of those times.
Everyone uses backing tracks: this is true but it doesnt matter. The fact that everyone uses one is not the point, the point is this was a mishap that Mariah creatively and elegantly figured out how to deal with ON THE SPOT… she was clearly NOT lip syncing and even if she was who cares… its really NOT that serious.

i didn’t see what happened until a blog pointed it out. even though she had the backing track she did sing live . you could clearly hear her. i’m a huge mariah fan , but i got no problem with saying when she messes up. this performance IMO was way better than the saturday night live performance.

First off, Robin looks fabulous with her short hair! As for Mariah, she did a good recovery I mean I’m not going to knock her for that life happens. I will say that she sounds nothing like her CD live. I have seen her perform Touch my Body a couple of times and her vocals sound so weak. I don’t think I would pay to see her in concert her live singing isn’t cutting it. She looks awesome love the dress and the shades!!!

The backup singer did over sing, she always does that. Shes done it on like 3 of Mariah’s performances recently.

I dont care what these haters say, Mariah is the biggest selling female artist of all time. She’s fantabulous and supersplendiferous!
She handled this situation with dignity and professionalism, most singers would shake if there track skipped during a live performance but Mariah didnt. Also artists like Beyonce use backing track vocals and singers all the time but they dont get criticised for it- people are so biased!!!

What I think most of you don’t understand is how the music industry works. Mariah is not promoting a concert DVD/CD. She’s promoting the single and her new STDIO CD. When you’re promoting singles you want the people to hear the studio version because that’s what you’re selling. YOU WANT TO SELL THE SINGLE IN IT’S ORIGINAL STUDIO CONTENT SO THE RECORD COMPANY USUALLY INSIST SINGERS LIP-SYNC TO A TRACK. So when someone is on a television talk show I think they should lip-sync – and when I’m seeing you in concert sing live…or if you’re on an Awards show. Not at 9AM in the morning when you still have frogs in your throat.
I full support Mariah and any other singer who has the business knowhow to lip-sync to the single you’re promoting. It means you know how to market yourself. The track is hot and Mariah is too. So don’t be mad at her for being in the game long enough to know how it’s done.

I thought MIMI sounded great… The Track problem was worked out by her she sang the shit out of BYE BYE and Chick LIke Me… and she sounded very good on Touch mY Body… Her voice is very precious she sounds better in smaller venues, not trying to beat her voice out for an entire city or stadium to hear. But she is a superstar so she must do these events, I have seen Mariah in a very nice size venue and she sang the roof off cause it was better suited so she doesnt have to go beyond her chest voice… Most people have never seen her live u just remember her glorious voice from those early performances on Unplugged or those NBC special Tommy Mottola put together, in which she was in a small venue and just did not have to push. SHe is no Patti she is not a power belter she is a phenomanal singer much like a opera singer with a very delicate and precious voice. Plus she just got over a very bad cold… Give her some credit we all have bad days but I am sorry this was not one she is sounding great…

Most singers use backing tracks to layer for choruses but not whole verses and belting. It is painfully obvious that she whispers live and her voice is bad, then all of the sudden her voice becomes splendiferous, if you will. The background singer is just a scapegoat because Mariah had turned herself into Ashley Simpson due to her drinking and not taking care of her voice.

She sounds awful on TMB.Maybe she should consider obtaining a vocal coach because her vocal chords are in bad shape it seems.Of course she looks cute and sexy.The choreography was terrible IMO.I really don’t know why she even has dancers.They are fine as hell though.Especially Eddie.
I’m glad she performed my jam “I’m That Chick” but,of course the vocals are a mess but,at least she looked cute.
Towards the end of “Bye Bye” she sounded much better but,of course overall the performances were boring.Clearly she doesn’t know how to entertain.I can’t understand why people would pay to see her perform but,good for them.
