April 25, 2008 At The Bodega With Mrs. Beck!
As you probably already know, a person’s pheromones affect how a certain scent will translate. I love to use Fresh Lemon Sugar perfume and a girlfriend of mine was always like, “I need that!” And so for a gift, I gave her a bottle. I normally do not like to just dole out what I deem to be my signature scent, but I made an exception. She reported back to me within the week and said she wasn’t a fan of it on her. So when I ventured into the store to buy my husband body wash, I had to find something that was fresh and clean that I too would be able to use in the summertime. Something that worked equally nicely on both of us. Of course, he doesn’t give a damn. That fool will wash off with Gojo if you let him. Google it. He has a tub of it in the shower as we speak. Ugh.
Back to what I was saying…
You see, when it starts getting crazy hot, I have to switch up the regimen. Pretty packaging and delicate scents can go to hell for all I care. I need to feel squeegee clean. And that’s when I bust out with men’s product.
I’m a big fan of layering in the shower. I like to use bar soap first, body wash second, body scrub third and an oil last. But in the summers, I double up on my shower routine and I don’t have time to luxuriate for the mid-day shower. This sounds ludicrous, I know! But I have a mid-day shower on my off days when time permits because it’s a nice little treat and it makes me feel good about myself and costs relatively nothing so I’m just doing me.
I discovered Old Spice High Endurance Body Wash in the Pure Sport scent. The bottle is totally masculine. All red and utilitarian looking. But let me tell you something. The scent is really clean. I’m the kind of person that likes to use Pine Sol because of its effervescent powers, its ability to make me seem like I’ve been cleaning since the break of dawn and should be appreciated as such. This Old Spice stuff has that power. It just floats off of your body all day!
It’s not a strong cologne smell. Don’t be scared by the words old and spice thrown together. Trust me, I know. My father’s been using Old Spice deodorant for decades now and the smell alone conjures up hilarious memories including misadventures in the bowling alley on league night and late night sessions of dragging pops out of the NCO club, umhmmm. I was an opinionated 10-year-old rolling deep with grown folks that all wore some type of fine-smelling that mixed nicely with cigarette smoke and Pabst Blue Ribbon. My olfactory game has been up since I was a child. It’s that serious.
The thing is – this Old Spice body wash works really well on my husband too. And I can’t say the same for other body washes I have purchased for him and tried to use on me. Namely the golden brown Neutrogena body wash that smells absolutely delicious on him and totally medicinal on me.
The Pure Sport may not work for you. If it doesn’t, branch out into the other flavors. Old Spice has flavors for days. But if you want to get your Outkast on and be so fresh and so clean clean, I’m telling you, browse the men’s aisle. They got all the goods and half the time, it’s even cheaper. Ain’t that a trip?

It’s so funny because someone gave me a bar of the old spice soap for a gag gift exchange and I loooooved it. It really blends nice with my pheromones

Wuuutt!! See i used to spray some Axe on me when i be in BI-Lo. I guess ill actutally buy the body wash now knowing another chicana agrees that men body wash is soooo temtping to coat the body too!!!

never thought about that! but my damn boyfriend LOVES my body wash though… i guess imma go to wal-mart and find me some old spice and reverse the roles…

Im not to sure about the Old Spice, but I will use some of my boyfriends and see how it works on me, before I purchase any. But, Girlfriend. you been on point so far… I love to sesame oil and so does my man. Keep the beauty tips coming
