April 18, 2008 Soul Train the Movie?
Get ready to do the “Paw-Paw” because a “Soul Train” movie is on track to arrive in movie theaters next year, according to Don Cornelius, the shows creater. Don Cornelius reports that he’s teamed up with Warner Bros. Pictures to develop a comedy that he hopes will spawn multiple sequels. The project, currently called “Soul Train: The Movie,” revolves around two male dancers on the show who get into “a lot of good stuff and some bad stuff as well,” said Cornelius, who will serve as a producer. It features “lots of music, lots of comedy,” he added, as well as “a little bit of violence.” He also promised it would be “more than slightly sensual.” A first draft is being written by rookie scribe J. Gil Williams, and is due to be turned in next month. No director or cast are attached yet. Love Muffins do you have any thoughts on which stars will play the lead?

Spike Lee should direct it. Otherwise, it sounds like a hot mess waiting to happen.

What about Nick Cannon and Chris Brown as the two dancers that have the rivalry? Chris showed some acting skills in “This Christmas”, and Nick did well in “Drumline”. The writing/directing is what will make or break a film such as this.
