April 16, 2008 Update: A.Keys vs. Blender Mag.
Alicia is refusing to apologize for her comments regarding the governments involvement in “gangsta raps” rise- but saying that she did not actually – in fact – say what the media is saying that she said. She continues to support her belief that the media fueled the east coast west coast beef and that the government could have done more to help the community of people that these rappers were speaking on. So Love Muffins – according to Keys – no conspiracy theory actually exists. Blender is standing by their original article. Love Muffins who do you believe? I’m going to side with Alicia on this one. We all know that the press has a way of twisting folks words to try and get a more scandalous story. Thoughts?

Like I said, again, Alicia never said that. She said that the media fueled the situation by oversloganizing the word gangsta rap. The media overhyped this whole feud by basically pitting these two against eachother. She never said that the government invented gangsta rap so that black people could kill eachother. She never put all the blame on the government. She never said people promoting a gangsta lifestyle aren’t wrong. She just said the media played a big part in putting so much emphasis on gangsta rap, that it gave the black community a bad image, and ultimately helped fuel this feud and those assassinations, like a catalyst.
It’s the media. Things like Blender (media) twist up words to make it seem more radical. Anything to sell. Anything to break down someone positive, for their own profit. That’s basically what media is today.
It makes me sad that lies like these gets lots of people going crazy, but her work with Keep a child alive gets zilch.

I have to side with A.Keys. We all know how the press/paps can take a sound bite or pic and make a whole story out of it. And if she did say it..so what?…it is how she feels.

Music is the vehicle for social behavior.
The government may be offering huge tax breaks and other perks to record companies that promote gangsta-rap.
Alicia is RIGHT!

It’s all entertainment – nothing’s real anymore. I take everything with a grain of salt. Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see if that grandma would say.

I seriously doubt she said what they are accusing her of. I’m sure it was misconstrued. That’s a hot pic of her. Love A. Keys!
