I “DVRed” it and just watched it on the tube. She seemed like she struggled and I think she lip-synced the entire ending. I liked the interview though. Buying Mariah & Juno (highly recommended) tomorrow!

I love her music and her albums, but yeah, I think she lip-synched the ending too The switch is easily audible aroud 3:52 seconds. We all know that she can sing. I just wish she would just blow us away witha performance! Obviously she can’t sing the entire song, as most people have problems keeping up just humming, plus her songs are very hard to sing. Still, it’s a little disappointing.

3:09 was lip synching definitely, struggling in the beginning, all i need is one just ONE great performance that’s completely LIVE to win me over, that fly like a bird was partially lip synch too

On ‘Bye Bye’, I hadnt actually realised what a hard song it was to sing. It never actually stops and the vocals overlap so much. She’s fine with it at first but then she starts to struggle by the second verse with her breathing. The belting (which isnt strenuous belting) is actually the easiest part of the song to sing if you listen to it’s arrangement and what she needs to do with it.
The Fly Like A Bird wasn’t lip synched at all. Not at all. She’s done that track over and over and on numerous occasions has done it perfectly. Her performance on GMA was better than idol gives back.
This, i’m not gonna say she didn’t at the end, but if she did, it’s a re recording as the vocals weren’t the same as the actual version of the song, they were alot weaker.
What i’ve noticed with Mariah though is that she’s proven to us – mostly in these later years but n a few rare occasions early on in her career – that it’s a hell of alot easier for her to belt. If you listen to live performances of stuff like ‘its like that’, espec at the VH!1special, she has problems breathing the actual verses but does belt out the ad libs and its totally live. She also does it with Shake It Off…an exceptionally hard song to sing straight through live but then she belts it at the end in live performancs.
People then say she mimes the endings because her arrangement was harder at the start and so she couldnt really keep up but suddenly does this belting, but take into consideration arrangements, vocals she uses in teh verses etc….

BScott wat are u listenin to? That was horrible. She looked great but she sounded Horrendous. I couldnt even understand her. The ending was better but thats just because she lip synched it. The song is alright tho.

wht r u people talking about that performance was pitch perfect i am a singer and that was a very hard arrangement but she pulled it off im guessing none of you are singers at the end that song jumped a hole octive and went from faulse to full voice which may have led some of you to believe she lip synched you have to realize she likes to use all the different levels of her voice and they can be compleatly different.I also noticed her back up singers took some of the adlibs while mariah sang the other it was brilliant. she was great to me although the song is not my type of song she performed it well.
