April 11, 2008 JD Announces TAG Records!
Recently Jermaine Dupri announced TAG Records, the new venture between Island Def Jam and Proctor & Gamble. JD is known especially for the revival of Usher & Mariah Carey’s career and I’m eager to see what he does with this new venture.

JD is one MINI – BIG Mogul!! I really dont like hearing him hype other people’s song, his voice annoys me – but I admire his business savvy! He’s a genius when it comes down to it all.

TAG records is owned by Procter and Gamble, inspired by the TAG fragrance for men (drugstores).
JD will have to sign artists that will directly and/or indirectly promote P&G products.
SELL OUT!
This is officially the end of REAL music.

Jermaine Dupri will not be signing artists. He will be signing spokesmen for Tag body spray. He just created the first marketing/record label.
Island/Def Jam will get all the money from this deal and when they are through with the artists they will just throw them away. The poor artists will have no credibility after shilling body spray and will be back working at McDonald’s.
This deal is bad for artists, music, and the industry. It will encourage other declining record companies to follow. And, who knows what will happen; we might have to listen to MC Donald and the Grill Master on the radio!
