April 9, 2008 Mariah Talks About E=MC²: Track by Track
Love muffins check out the below video of Mariah Carey talking about E=MC² track by track! This video really gives you a sense of who Mimi really is, so insightful!
Intro
This album is so much about fun and freedom and just the continuation of me feeling emancipated. It’s sort of like Emancipation equals Mariah Carey times two. Like, this is me, a 100% of me, having fun and just being real. People ask me all the time: ‘how do you stay relevant? how do you stay current? how do you make music people continue to respond to?’ You just keep being real, keep being you, stay true to who you were from the beginning.

This interview epitomizes why I love Mariah. She makes music fun. She doesn’t take herself so seriously like many other divas. She’s lighthearted and down to earth. I love her and have since I was 10 years old.

Well, “I wish you well” Mimi. I listend to album, my fav track is number 8. I don’t remember what the name of the song is ‘cuz i’ve only listened to the album once.
Here’s my thing…Mariah Carey can sang her ass off. But she doesn’t do very much of it on E=MC2. She does this talky, whipser thing which she doesn’t have to do.
I know that she doesn’t need to belt everything like the last couple of songs on the CD (see I did listen to it all) but these talk singy songs don’t translate well live. Have you seen TMB performed live?….not good…
Let’s face it. I don’t think there’s many divas who can do it all i.e. sang (not sing) and entertain (dance, put on a show). Mariah Carey can “sang” but I feel that E=MC2 does not display that to the extent that as a CD it will be considered a major moment in her catalog. No one will be singing TMB on the next American Idol show in 20 years, but they will be singing, “Hero”, “We Belong Together”, “One Sweet Day”, etc.
If Janet came on TV to perform and just sat there and tried to sing, i’d be disappointed, (like i am always disappoinged with everything Madonna now), she’s a performing artist, that’s why I fell in love with her. I fell in love Mimi ‘cuz she sings. Not ‘cuz she be boppin around chanting ‘catchy hooks. The girl knows how to write a hook, though.
Now I can hear BScott already, yes an artist can evolve and do other things, follow their bliss, etc. But just ‘cuz everybody’s buying it don’t make it good or art. It just makes it popular. And we all know there’s a lot of popular stuff that ends up in the garage sale for 1 cent.
Obviously, I’m a fan of Mimi, I’ll all up on her music jock, I just wish she’d give me a bit more the Mimi that “sangs” and lil less with the catchy hooks and popular for the moment songs. Just My Opionion

How is she not ’sanging’ on this album? You need to check yourself and replay that shit to untwist your words you be spittin about her ability to write good music. This album is fiyyah! Touch My Body will be remembered because its a historic moment and this album is full of tracks that can be sung years from now. Mariah is pop, she defines the music of our generation and wannabes take note attempting to replicate her style. Shes often imitated but never duplicated. She singing fully on a lot of these songs so I dunno what album you been listening too.
Give it a few more listens than judge cause I can’t take this shit off repeat, its that ridiculous! MC stepped it up and took her shit to another level she has evolved, this aint no EOM part 2. This is just Mimi on another level. I stay In Love blows We Belong Together out the water. I don’t know what you talking bout, you need to rewind the tracks and take another listen. Don’t get it twisted until you definite on your review, nuff people be re-reviewing this album and giving it a higher ranking because her melodies are too infectious.

One thing that I’ve always loved about MC is that she writes her own music, could be the controling part of her, but she’s done it her entire career (one thing I was a bit ticked off about Janet this go around, but discipline letting someone take over you – i get it). I can’t get the lyrics to Side Effects outta my head. I know everything that I’ve gone through came with side effects that I won’t let get the best of me. So for that song thank you & I’m there Tues.
