Take me higher lord, literally! Love muffins check out my Mimi delivering a live crowd-rousing performance of her inspirational “Fly Like A Bird” at Idol Gives Back tonight! Honestly, this has to be one of Mimi’s best live vocal performances in years and in my opinion better than her 2006 Grammy performance of the song! Well done Mariah, well done! Now the haters have to find something else to say about my Mimi because the voice is so still there, it was so live and she looked so splendiferous! Love muffins, Mimi just unleashed her best vocal performance in recent memory on the most important promotional platform for her new album E=MC² – she just insured herself another top-selling album by nailing that one performance! (B. Scott clapping for the diva of all divas!)

Mariah killed it, she sang her booty off. ‘Cuz that’s a song baby..something to sing to.

damn, that was good.
i think people started to think that she couldn’t sing anymore because she never shows her vocal range in the song she sings live. Most of her recent radio released songs don’t showcase her range.
i realize this is a song off of emancipation, but songs like “shake it off” and “touch my body”, radio released songs, don’t necessarily show her vocal abiliities.
I do think she did an amazing job though.

Actually, I received confirmation that it was in fact live without the use of a backing track, so you are bonafide and certified dead wrong. So now find something else to say like how great she looked… lol

Definitely live all the way. I’m not someone who claims that MC sings live every time, but this was one fully live stone groove smash hit wonder.

B, How on EARTH can you think that this was a better performance then the 06′ Grammy’s?
Come on now… lol. She was struggling a lil bit. Her whistle’s were on point though.
Her voice is still there…We know that from I Wish You Well….(which has been on repeat in my car for like the past 3 days…lol)….But I think she needs to dig more for these live performances she’s doing. I really hope the promo tour for this album isn’t to strenuous on her… Singing these huge songs day after day, sometimes more then once a day, canot be a good thing on her voice. lol.
anyway..im rambling. lol. As a Love Muffin AND a huge lamb (one of the biggest)…I say thank you much for posting, because its what I was looking forward to most, and my damn TiVo cut it short. lol.

Just when I had began to doubt her. Her live performances have not been that stellar lately, or at least what I’ve seen, but that was just amazing. She did a great job and her whistle register was definitely top notch. She’s still got it and she’s still on top.

It was a decent performance, you can hear at some places she had to hold back so that her voice will not crack, but if you compare her live performance to someone like Celine or Patti the this pales by comparison.

It’s about time. I’m tired of her live performances being a let down…she was suffering from the Whitneys, where she could no longer hold a long note like on the album. Thank you Mariah for giving us what we’ve beeing waiting for. One of her best “notes” in recent memory.

I don’t know guys… this just doesn’t sound like the MARIAH we all grew to love… What’s up with that??? To me, she’s the ONLY true voice left in the game… This performance was lack-luster but I still love her LARGER THAN LIFE PERSONA!

Im sorry. I’m a long, long, LONG time Mariah fan. Since day 1! Having said that, I’m not one of the blind fans that refuse to criticize…I will always own up to when Mariah is not having a good vocal day, live or otherwise. HOWEVER, this performance was undeniably FLAWLESS! She hit every note. It was amazing. She also looked great. If you werent moved or amazed by that, check your pulse first, then check your sanity cuz she shitted on the industry last night! I kept waiting for that mistake, slip up – what have you – but it never happened! She was a LION!

I said a silent prayer and my girl rocked it! She is showing why she has 18 #1s! I was also glad that she was covered up but still looked cute. You could tell the entire thing was live b/c you could hear the changes in her voice as she hit the notes. I absolutly agree with you B. This was better than her Grammy performance of this song with the white dress.

I concur, she sang her ass off the stadium. I was worried about her voice before she performed, but damn she killed it, now 30-40 mill people need to shut the fuck up bout her lip syncing. So what if she does it here and there she’s human she ain’t no robot who can switch her vocals on and off whenever she needs to. Like she said its her instrument and its not goin be perfect all the damn time, but even when it isn’t its still that damn good. People need to lay off her and let her be. She owned that night like she’ll own 2008. Can’t wait until April 15th!

it was good, but not great. her voice sounded really strained and the only thing that saved the performance was her whistle notes. her regular singing voice didn’t use to sound this raspy.

She was awesome! I agree with B. This was much better than the 2006 grammys, where I actually thought that she was possibly ill. She sounded great last night and her body is looking tight as well. Keep it up Mimi….You are FAB!!

First of all, Miss Mimi was in excellent voice last night and sang the heck out of that song. You can go to itunes and download a much clearer version for only $.99 cents which will go to charity. In the recent past, Mariah had a cold and was still singing background tracks for E=MC2, plus flying all over the world (her schedule is crazy hectic!) promoting her single. Maybe that is part of the reason she hasn’t sounded her best at some recent performances. I have seen her live in concert 4 times and believe me I was up very close and she was amazing, I didn’t hear any lip-synching. She said she needs a lot of vocal rest before she sings with that incredible instrument of hers, and she has been doing nothing but promotional interviews (radio stations, magazine interviews and talk shows in Europe) recently and that can put stress on her vocal chords. But she seriously worked it out on Idol. Can’t wait to see as a mentor on Idol next week and on Oprah.
By the way she just tied Elvis for artist with most weeks at no.1 with 79 weeks! This woman is amazing!

I love Mariah and I’ve watched many performances from her. Now this wasn’t one of her bests. At first I was like is that Mariah? But I do love her, and she was gettin it at the end!
