April 5, 2008 Polow Da Don Speaks Up On Beat Jacking!

Love muffins, recently, their was a video going around stating that Polow used two preset synths from the Apple’s GarageBand program to help create Usher’s smash hit single “Love In This Club” (so far the video has been pulled from several video hosting sites).

Polow stated from Sohh.com, that if a ten-year-old can make ‘Love in This Club’ and save Usher’s career and make black women want to f*ck him again, after they was done with him for getting married, then sh*t he’s a genius just like me,” Polow said. “I also wrote the hook – that’s not a preset.”.

Even though you clearly hear two of the same instruments from Apple’s GarageBand program that you hear in the song, Polow insisted that he did not use the program to create the track and that “there’s this keyboard I have that a lot of sounds come in.”

  • he just needs to own up, pay usher back, and take a long vacation. its soo obvious he used those beats.

  • I love how he justifies being a low-talent thief by effectively blaming Black women for rejecting Usher. We’re always to blame for every damn thing. SMH.

  • and what does black women wanting to fuck usher have to do with the damn beat?! SMH

  • If he sampled it or snatched just admit it. He knows the rules in the industry. PAY UP!!!He is straight up starting to irritate me! I don’t know but ever since I started hearing about him he makes off the wall comments and they all include something negative about black women. Even if it has nothing what so ever to do with them.

  • i hate him.
    uhnnnnn.
    fucking idiot.

  • This sounds like an admission of guilt to me.

  • They’re talking about using a “preset” sound. It’s not illegal, it’s not even wrong you idiots. Garageband software is for making music, a preset is a pre-programmed sound. Using presets doesn’t earn anybody style points or street cred, but who cares??? THIS IS A NON-STORY!

  • You people have no idea what it means to make a beat. There are keyboards with embedded sounds already in them. Even the top producers use them, often something they buy at a pawn shop. Those things can be very expensive and no one generall knows where the beats come from unless they spend $4000 on a set of royalty free sounds. Hardly any good producer creates their own sounds except Timberland and the Neptunes. Timberlands signature in a lot of songs, is just him beatboxing and not a lot of people know it, but most of the time it’s how you can tell who made the beat.

But on that note, I am certain, without a doubt, that the guy did it on purpose. He’s not admitting to it or denying it because it’s obvious that the sounds were used, but as a producer myself, I know the about the keyboard thing and when you use preset sounds it’s nearly impossible to verify their source.

So he loses this one, big deal, he’s doing it better than most of you so shut the fuck up…
