March 28, 2008 Work Your Weekend!

1. Drink This! “Ginger Mango Martini”

sh0708_cocktail_e.jpg

Ice
3 oz. mango rum
3 oz. mango nectar
1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
Champagne

Don’t be afraid of ginger, especially in your cocktail! It’s got a zesty spice that pairs very well with a smooth, super sweet fruit like mango. Fill a martini shaker with ice and add all ingredients except champagne. Strain and pour into martini glass. Top with champagne and serve.

2. Watch This! 21

Take a band of MIT mathematical geniuses and let them count a few cards on Vegas’ blackjack tables. Trouble’s bound to happen. This movie is based on a true story portrayed in Ben Mezrich’s book Bringing Down the House, and stars Jim Sturgess, Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, and Laurence Fishburne. Interesting fact: The real-life mostly Asian-American MIT team has been casted with white actors, and that Hollywood decision has caused a minor uproar in various communities.

3. Wear This! “Go Business”

The great thing about most of Cali’s workforce is that we can forgo wearing the traditional professional garb. The bad thing is that we’re missing out on fierce blouses, pants and suits that we’d love to wear in an office. Switch up your style and maybe fool your boss into thinking you’re going on interviews when you show up in a summery suit or wide leg pants fit for the rising, young executive.

4. Hear This! “Lady Gaga—Just Dance”

Akon just won’t stop with his musical protégés! Check out this track from Lady Gaga, another Konvict Muzik artist. It features Colby O’Donis and Akon, of course. For all of our Miami love muffins, maybe you caught a glimpse of her at the Winter Music Conference this week.

At The Bodega With Mrs. Beck!

Love muffins, it’s that time for another wonderful splendiferous super duper exciting read from Mrs. Beck!

The hibernation is coming to an end. As B would say, so splendiferous!

That means no more hiding behind black leggings, under jeans or thick tights. It’s time to prepare your hidden skin for more day-to-day exposure. This may very well be scary. No one is trying to look at a long set of scaly, pale, ashy and hairy legs. Oofah. I know all too well the drama that goes with looking down at a frightening milk white ankle. So sad.

Mere lotion cannot eradicate the winter dryness. I have to layer lotions with oils.

Have you tried Neutrogena Sesame Oil?

I discovered it by being good old fashioned nosy. I was looking through a friend’s medicine cabinet actually. I flipped the cap and the smell was just crazy delicious. Loved it. I brought it out of the bathroom and I was like, “What’s this!”

And she said, “You don’t know nothing about that…” and she jokingly snatched it out of my hands.

I Don’t Know Why But….

I’m really loving “All I See” by Kylie Minogue. I was listening to her latest album X and really feeling this song (especially the remix with MIMS). To be honest there’s nothing extraordinary about the song. It’s just a simple pop song with an extremely catchy hook but every time I hear it I think of spring/summer and riding around in the car with the windows down. It just makes me feel happy! TGIF. Enjoy, Love Muffins.

Heidi Klum was spotted at the park with her three children, Leni, Henry and Johan sporting her new Givenchy handbag. It still amazes me how she popped out three kids and still kept that supermodel body!
