March 27, 2008 Leona Lewis Scores First U.S. No. 1 Hit!
Already a chart-topper in her native U.K., Leona Lewis scores her first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 this week with “Bleeding Love,” which zooms 8-1. She’s the first female to take her inaugural single to the top of this tally since Fergie’s “London Bridge” in 2006. “Bleeding Love” is also No. 1 on Hot Digital Songs after selling 219,000 downloads, up 82%. Last week’s Hot 100 No. 1, Usher’s “Love in This Club” featuring Young Jeezy, drops to No. 2 but is still the fastest growing track at radio. ~ Billboard

She better send Opah a billion “double kisses” because I know her appearance on Oprah helped to catapult her chart position. But great song none the less.
