March 17, 2008 Jam It Or Slam It: Madonna – Four Minutes

madonna-justin-timberlake-four-minutes.jpg

The high quality version of Madonna’s new single “Four Minutes” just debuted and I wanted to know what you guys thought. I know we already posted the radio rip but now that the official version is out I thought you’d want to hear what the final mix sounds like. Timbaland really did his thing with this beat because it is bananas. All I wanna do is dance when I hear it. Sometimes I wonder if the hip-hop sound is really authentic with Madonna or if she’s hopping on the bandwagon. Anyway…what do you guys think, Jam It or Slam It?

  • LOVE IT!!

  • I like Madonna but this song sucks!

  • Not feeling it. The beat, although fresh, is not… catchy for me at least. Like, I need a song like “Gimme More” that gets you from the get go.

  • i vote NO.

  • i prefer the instrumental
i love it soley on the production
but when you layer it with the vocal production it just looses it. it doesn’t feel as if it fits tight as it should wen you can just hear the production of the actual son, but it’s deffinit grower

by the way i love you bscott, your swagger incrediblly authentic and unique and real

  • I’m not feeling this song at all. Madonna’s vocals get lost in the production, and it seems like it’s more of a Justin Timberlake song than hers. Timbaland wasted a good minute of the four at the beginning.

  • profoundly mediocre.

  • this song sucks major uncut donkey dick.

    horrible.

madonna will suck up justin’s last credibility like britney and soon he will be in the gutter where his biting wannabe ass needs to be.

  • mmmmmm…..this sounds like Timbo did a remix of a Madonna song. she doesn’t seen to naturally fit in this genre.

  • SLAM that s#%* to the ground! Madonna is FIRE, but JT is ‘wiggidy wiggidy wiggidy WACK!’ And this sound, the whole Tim/JT thing, is PLAYED. The song sounds like a reject from Nelly Furtado’s LOOSE album 2 years ago (which is a great CD in itself, but this song didn’t make the cut). I’m not impressed. NEXT!

  • Sound like a Nelly Furtado ripoff to me! But it will be a hit!

  • I LIIIIIIIIIVE for it get ms madonna

  • Is this a Justin ft Madonna song. That what it sounds like you hear more of him i’ll pass on this one.

  • I could get into this with a hot video. It could be shorten especially the beginning, but I guess it’ll miss the whole 4 minutes thing. A bit over Justin & Timberland, but it’s always cool when Madonna comes out with new music.

  • She’s trying way too hard! I sounds horrible!
    HATED IT!

  • TOTALLY SLAM IT! THIS SONG SUCKS! SHE NEEDS TO GIVE IT UP OR TAKE SOME LESSIONS FROM MARIAH :)

  • SLam it. This sounds like every other Timbaland record. She’s totally jumped on the bandwagon. So sad.

  • as talented as i think timbaland is i do feel she’s jumping on the bandwagon. don’t like it at all. the beat is hot but not for her. timbalands beats are not for everyone. just like high-waisted jeans aren’t for everyone. lol.
she needs to leave those beats for JT, flo-rida, nelly f., etc…..

and yes, she does sound like she’s trying too hard.

  • AND, she could have helped herself out a little by going against the song i.e. the beat has a slower tempo to it and she’s singing right along to it. maybe if she sped up her lyrics to offset it, it would sound a LITTLE better

  • i’m really not feeling this song

  • That was the longest 4 minutes of my life, thank Got it’s over!

  • i love it!!

anything with justin is gonna be good no doubt

  • ..ya’ll got just 4 mins. to STOP HATIN’…just playing, lol…IMO, it makes me wiggle while i work it baby, vocals and all…i fuxs wit M-DOLLA and this tune off the bat and i can tell it will continue to grow on me after it marinates…plus, i’m vibing on her lil’ concept, you know the gurl has to gon’ stick her toe in that hiphop culture, M-DOLLA! can you make us holla? i antiscipate the release…

  • the production is HOT…..the song is OK…..missy would have done better job with this beat……it sounds like a missy reject track but again the production is HOT and can see it sounding good in the niteclubs if the djs embrace this song…..if you have an instrumental post that please……a nice old missy accapella would go better over this beat Fa Sho

  • Jam it!! Great song cant wait to hear it at a nightclub. Theres def alot of Madonna haters up on here if you dont like her why would you listened to the song to begin with???

  • It’s OK. I mean I like Madonna and JT and all, BUT…this song is a little bit sleepy to me. Kind of boring in that repetitive ride the tune kind of way. I didn’t feel like dancing, more like bobbing my head. Nothing about it made me want to take it to the floor and break it down.

Madonna didn’t seem like she was trying to hard to me since she’s a risk taker and always evolving and experimenting as an artist. This is just one more experiment to me. Eventhough she’s as old as she is she still has more energy left in her than this song puts out. REMIX IT!!!

    This is AWESOME. JAM IT

  • This will be a huge hit for Madonna. Just what she needed

  • This song could teach vacuum cleaners a lot about sucking. justin “i wish i were black” timberflake is annoying and unnecessary, and he shows why in this track. I guess Madonna sounds good, but it is so over produced and the instrumental so overrides the vocals, that I’m not able to tell. What a horrendous crock!

  • Madonna has always been onboard with current music trends by collaborating with the latest “new thing” in the pop industry. Unfortunately for today’s sound, this includes “Timbaland & Timberlake”; lending the same tired and dated old grooves and over-produced hip-hop/urban pop sound to possibly some of the pop diva’s less formidable work. It is no surprise her name is mentioned within the song as if to remind us to whom we are actually listening. However, I am sure it will serve its purpose in bringing in a younger crowd to Madonna at least for a single CD’s amount of time. As for the universitality of its staying power and memorability, I’d rank it among most trendy pan-flashes: extremely forgettable and trite. Incorporating this sound into her current body of work in a live atmosphere should prove “interesting” at best.
