March 12, 2008 Mariah Carey Replaces Janet On SNL!

The diva of all divas, Mariah Carey, will be this week’s musical guest on Saturday Night Live with Jonah Hill as a guest host. Mimi is replacing Janet Jackson who dropped out due to having the flu as previously reported, but Janet will be back in may to host and perform.
This will be Mimi’s first appearance on the show in over ten years. Her previous appearances were in 1990, 1991 and 1997. Saturday Night Live airs live from New York this Saturday, March 15, at 11:30pm EST on NBC.

She’s doing Touch My Body & a new song called Migrate which features T-Pain.
The fans want That Chick as the 2nd single, but Migrate is said to be really good.
She performed TMB, That Chick, Migrate, & Love Story on a BET special last week. It will air April 16th.

I haven’t even watched SNL in a long time (huge MadTV fan), but I’ll watch it to hear Mimi perform ‘Touch My Body.’

SNL..now you know you’re wrong!
Mariah is Janet’s arch-nemesis. Booking Mariah is a slap in the face to Janet. Way to look out SNL.
Janet did not deserve that. She’s sick..way to kick her when she’s down.
You suck..SNL.

arch-nemesis? WTF??? what are you? eight years old? grow up! i’m a huge janet fan and i’d rather see her perform when she’s feeling so much better so she could give her 100% than expect her to perform while she has the flu and be disappointed because she doesn’t have the energy her songs require.
peace!

Regarding Janet:
The flu is no joke and it makes you feel like total crap – she can’t execute dance moves onstage while sick like that – she could pass out from extreme exhaustion. Either way, the fans would have been disappointed anyway, whether she (1) showed up and did not give her all or (2) did not show up at all. There was no win-win situation.
The good thing is that many of her fans understand that this is reality, people do get sick, and that there will always be a next time to see her on stage or perform somewhere.
What I can say here is that at least Janet tried and at least gave notice ahead of time.
