“Touch My Body” climbs 10 spots to #24 in its 3rd week on Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles chart (issue date: 03/15/08).

The song also moves up 3 spots to #15 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and enters the top 10 at #8 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart.

According to Nielsen BDS, “Touch My Body” had 76 million audience impressions this past week, 6 million ahead of Usher’s “Love In This Club” (#10 on Hot 100 Airplay). While the two songs battle it out on the airplay charts, Usher’s track climbs from #51 to #1 on the Hot 100 this week, thanks to almost 200,000 digital downloads of the song.

Well do the damn thing, Mimi!

  • I still don’t like that song. She could have done so much better.

  • i don’t think the lyrics but the pop sound, it’s so light and airy, get it mimi and i am SOOO happy for usher, hopefully this will get his cd, i hate the title, ‘Here I Stand’ too mushy lol but i’m glad SOMEONE dethroned talentless Flo Rida and GET IT JANET TOO, SHE’S #19, FROM LIKE #53, THE SHORT TIME SHE PROMO’D SHE DID GREAT!!

  • *i must repost, i read ALL of my MANY errors lmao*

i don’t like the lyrics but the pop sound, it’s so light and airy, get it mimi and i am SOOO happy for usher, hopefully this will get his cd RELEASED, i hate the title, ‘Here I Stand’ too mushy lol but i’m glad SOMEONE dethroned talentless Flo Rida and GET IT JANET TOO, SHE’S #19, FROM LIKE #53, THE SHORT TIME SHE PROMO’D ANYTHING FOR ‘DISCIPLINE’ SHE DID GREAT!!

  • They need to release the song to itunes and other digital retailers so TMB can shoot to number one, guess they’re waiting to the right time, but they better hurry before the track looses steam

  • I like this look for Mariah. She has more clothes on and still looks sexy classy.

  • If anyone is doubting the album, all the reviews are praising it and saying Touch My Body is its worse song.

Lyrically she’s back on track. The vocals are more robust than they’ve been in a decade. She is experimenting with a lot of new things.

She has balanced commercial with personal stuff and depth. B. Scott posted a VH1 review which was really specific; Look in her tag.

  • mariha carey is a HOW

  • and you’re a poor speller.

Mariah is currently the only artist in the top 50 who’s there on airplay alone, and at 24, that’s an amazing feat.
As for her tactics, they’re waiting it out.
They’ll wait til ‘Touch My Body’ starts to stall, release a remix and then release the song for digital download.
If the track can be at 24 with solely ‘album version’ airplay and hasn’t yet stalled then i’m not only sure it’ll enter the top 15 based on airplay, but, once released, it can hit the No.1 spot.
IF they release it at the end of March, hoping airplay is good enough, it could hit the No.1 spot. 14 days later the album gets released. it’s cert. to be a HUGE seller, meaning that even if the single doesn’t get pushed into the top slot at the end of the month, it really could do it that week.
Further, when the remix drops, L.A Reid may use the same tactics he did when the single was initially released – release it digitally to all radio stations at once. ‘Touch’ has been such a success that its guaranteed DJ’s will play the remix, boosting impressions in unison and therefore pushing the track up more.
L.A Reid is a clever, clever man.

Janet reaching No.19 is only due to digital album sales. Any songs also available for download that also feature on the album will receive a boost when the album is released.
Congrats to her on the No.1 album, but at 170k, sales are weak.
It’s interesting to see Usher jump from 51 to 1 with downloads of 200k, but how long he can maintain those download levels remains to be seen. An album isn’t due ’til June so expect more singles before then. In my opinion, they need to be careful. Yes, he’ll sell bucketloads of the album, but due to the time span in between the first single and album release, he could be treading a line in terms of long term sales.
