Mariah Carey, for nearly 20 years has been one of my all time inspirations. A DIVA of all Divas. I LOVE HER, and am so sadly disappointed by this effort. The song is bland, banal, insipid, boring…Not first singe worthy AT ALL. ALL us Love Muffins and LAMBS MUST join forces to ensure that it is a HIT no matter what though. We can’t allow our Queen to fail. But I also can’t be in denial. The song is mediocre at best. My guess, is that since she will want to promote it extensively, requiring multiple live performances, she wanted to ensure the first single was one that sat comfortably in her PRESENT day register. Sad, sad, day for Mariah Carey fans. But we still love you Mimi and will support you no matter what!

I LOVE MARIAH!!! I totally agree with B. Scott cause EVERYTHING Mariah’s voice touches is a hit and we’ve got to make sure that this song goes to number 1 so she can finally beat Elvis with the number 1’s. For those that expected more you all have to remember the music industry is all about the dollar signs and Mariah has no choice in what will be released as a single 1st even at this stage in her career she can give an input but that is all. The record companies will release what is true for that moment in music also in terms of her vocal arrangement this is classic Mariah layering of her vocals and she has mastered the art of doing whats right for her voice (remember we are all our worst critic) having said that any TRUE Mariah fan know’s that she is a perfectionist to say the very least. SO MARIAH KEEP DOING THE DANG THANG. B. SCOTT YOU ROCK and not only am I proud to be a LAMB I am proud to be one of your Love Muffins!

Lol, Mariah is prolly the biggest diva ever. She DOES have input at this stage in her career as to what the single will be. Sure, you can be a true Mariah fan. But you don’t have to be a damn delusional Mariah fan. The song isn’t up to par. Get over it. Also, everything her voice touches does not go number. I don’t believe that song “say something” went to number 1 anywhere. O.o Though I could be wrong. Anything, come out of your shell and see that at this time, most of us expected Mimi to come out the gate stronger. We expected her to blow us away, not to push up a little. It took like 10 listens. But I think the song is just ok. I expected more too. I’ve always liked old Mariah’s lyrics. I thought they used big words, I was a youngin, and had hidden meanings. These days it’s like she’d “dumbing down.” I do like the section before the chorus. We’ll see. I’m still feelin Ms. Jackson more.

I’m sorry B. I know you love you some Mariah, and I love her too. But I’m disappointed.
Don’t get me wrong, the song is “cute”, and it will get radio play, but I was expecting the single to BUMP. It didn’t have to be a dance floor number, but with all the hype surrounding Mariah’s new project I was expecting the song to Bump with an edgy new sound, kinda like Emancipation of Mimi did. Honestly, this single sounds like something left over from the Emancipation of Mimi recording sessions.
I think PerezHilton described the single best, actually.

The song has a nice catchy beat, this is typical Mariah. But has anyone taken the time to listen to the actual lyrics. In my opinion, the lyrics seem more suited for a Ciara or Rhiana than Mariah.I’m not saying she shouldn’t have fun with her music, but this just seems a little immature for someone of her stature.
