Grammy Performances: Beyonce and Tina Turner

February 10, 2008

Tina Turner and Beyonce ripped it tonight. It was so good to see Tina Turner back on stage. She is really a powerhouse performer and I can believe what she is able to do at 68. I’ve seen Destiny’s Child do Proud Mary in some of their concerts so it was good to see Beyonce do it side by side with the original. They really lit up the stage together.

I was really over this performance.. I thought that Beyonce would have more show time by herself… OH MY.. What was the Grammy’s thinking letting Tina have all the time ?

The Grammy’s were thinking that Ms. Turner is a trail blazing rock icon. An icon that not only help build the foundation that became rock & roll, r&b, pop, funk, and soul. An icon, that despite all hardships, put on her fiercest wig and shortest dress, and sang her tonsils raw. All this while shaking those hips and strutting her hot legs in 5 inch stilettos.

amazing. Tina has still got it. One thing though, I didn’t like the camera work. What’s with the wide angle shots? Close ups on the stars please. Just cause you spent a mint on those expensive ass cameras you want to do special camera effects. Isn’t camera work covered in TV 101?

It was good to just see my girl Tina… It was even better to see her unofficially pass the torch to Beyonce. Tina is the trendsetter for all that we expect of our female performers. She was the first to wear the micro minis and heels which are staple today…. But the dancing…..nuff said. Tina do it with your old metallic pantsuit wearing a**. I love you!

Tina is indeed a living legend, absolutely amazing! My God, the woman is 68 years old. How can you not be amazed at her stamina, beauty, energy, talent……

Yeah I agree with most of the post on the Tina Turner & Beyonce performance.

HA! For the folk who don’t know Tina Turner was a beast in her time…and my girl Beyonce is a beast….wonderful performance although you can see that Beyonce was holding back having respect for a woman she WILL live up to be if not greater!

    2 Thumbs Way Up!

Beyonce has certainly embodied the beast that is Tina. They both perform as though the are amazons Im talking Tina in her prime. Its the thing that stands out most with the both of them.

Im pissed that Beyonce mentioned Whitney as a legend at the end and no mention of Mariah! Why doesn’t Mariah get the respect that she deserves? The woamn is a legend 17 #1’s bitches!

It was amazing to watch my idol Beyonce on stae with her idol Tina. It’s crazy knowing that Beyonce grew up watching Tina and now she was on stage with her. It’s classic

damn! i know beyonce’s legal team is the reason these vids are down now. she is so Prince.

  22. jan on February 11, 2008 at 6:53 pm #

I thought Tina Turner owned the stage. Tina was in much better shape than Beyonce. I also realized that the stage had both their names Tina, Beyonce above the stage - that’s Beyonce’s mom’s name (Tina Beyonce Knowles). I didn’t care for Beyonce’s clothes - she looked thick and out of shape compared to Tina. Maybe that’s why the videos are really down. Both had great energy on stage, but Tina’s presence was much stronger. Almost 70 years old and she still has it. Ike lost and Tina totally won!

You have to give credit where credit is due. When it comes to performing, Tina is ’simply the best’. Hands down! Beyonce is ‘overhyped’ due to lack of competition today. She is the ‘default’ entertainer today. Let’s just face it. She has years to fill the years of success and class that Tina, Aretha, Whitney, and Mariah, have done. The list goes on. She would not last during their prime era. Give the credit where it is due to the Queen of Rock and Roll Tina Turner and the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. Even she couldn’t even do her homework before performing Grammy night, and do that correctly and give her respects properly on stage, giving Aretha and Tina their correct Queen titles that night!!! She needs to be musically schooled before giving any more tributes! LOL
