“My meeting with Britney and some family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention. She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room. We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car. I am very concerned for her.”

Dr. Phil visited Britney Spears Saturday morning right before she was released from the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center hospital in Los Angles and issued the above statement to Entertainment Tonight, thoughts?

Goodness, Britney Spears has demanded and has been allowed to leave Cedar Sinai Medical Center hospital today before her 72-hour psychiatric evaluation was complete! Brit-Brit reportedly demanded to leave after she erupted into a temper tantrum due to Dr. Phil McGraw stopping by her psych ward bedroom for an unscheduled visit. There is no word if Kevin Federline or her father Jamie Spears who has been constantly by her side since her Thursday “nervous breakdown” were notified prior to her release. Stay tuned love muffins! Update: Britney was released in accordance with the 5150 law which stipulates that someone can be held for-up to 72 hours if they pose a threat to themselves or others. As soon as medical officials feel the patient no longer poses a threat, they are required to let that patient leave the facility.

After Britney Spears’ 72-hour psychiatric hold expires on Sunday night, she will enter into an extended inpatient psychiatric care at an undisclosed location in California, a family insider told PageSix.com exclusively. Brit-Brit had a severe and complete “nervous breakdown and there is no drug or alcohol problem with her” leaving Jamie Spears, Kevin Federline and Sam Lutfi united in their grief and concern for the heavy sedated in and out of consciousness pop-princess. It’s amazing how tragedy brings unlikely allies together.

The source revealed that three worried men huddled together in the early hours of Friday morning in the psychiatric ward visiting room at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A., and “broke down and cried over the horrible events that occurred late Thursday night.”

Brit’s dad, Jamie (left), and her pal Sam haven’t left the hospital since Britney arrived. Our source tells us that they are being “brave” in their brief, less than five-minute visits with Britney, who has been sedated, but out of her sight they’ve been “crying and leaning on each other for support during this tragic time.”

Kevin hasn’t been at the hospital the entire time as he has been taking care of his and Britney’s kids, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1. But Britney’s ex-husband has been in constant contact with Jamie and “he’s asking for frequent updates on the mother of his children.”

Kevin was granted full temporary custody of the boys yesterday and Britney’s visitation was temporarily suspended. Our source tells us that Kevin doesn’t ever want to keep Britney from the boys, but wants her to get the help she needs in order for her to “be the best mom and person Kevin knows she is capable of being.”
