Update: Joseph Gray, 27, of Detroit was arraigned Sunday on child abuse charges in the beating of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son that was captured on a convenience store surveillance tape. The video from Dec. 21 shows a man hitting, kicking and stepping on a child over a four-minute span. The man also is seen hitting the child with a cooler door and pauses when other customers walk nearby.

This goes to show everyone is NOT cut out to be parents. People like this should NOT have children.
This reminds me of Nixmary Brown in New York. She was abused to no end and finally killed by her stepfather.

just imaging how this “man” was treated as a child, must have been as bad or worse. i cant even grasp why someone would do this to anyone let alone a defenseless child. im not trying to sympathize with the abuser but i just cant wrap my mind around this sort of behavior. so so sad and disturbing.
& people need to be more careful of who they let watch their children.

While I agree that the child’s mother probably is aware of the abuse being dealt to her son, we must consider that it is most likely that this man is behaving abusively toward her as well. Though that doesn’t excuse the endangerment of her children, it shed some light on how she could allow for her baby’s life to be put on the line in such a brutal manner…I hope that child finds himself in a safe and loving home soon…

Thank God this store clerk turned the tape in, had he not, who knows what would have happened. I remember seeing a news story where an elderly man got robbed and car jacked while at a gas station. the crook pistol whipped the man, and nobody did anything. we have to really start watching out for our babies and the good, elderly folks out there. this is craziness

I cant watch this video, Im afraid of the reaction I may get and will probably ruin my month!
But I hope single women everywhere will learn from this and NOT bring just any ol’ body into your home. Do not let any man come into your childs life that easily. Do a back round check! When I say that I mean go meet his family, ask some questions to get a real view of who you’re with. Though some ppl are time bombs there are some things that can be avoided.
Ima pray for this lil boy and his mama. This gutta butt trollop of a man will get his in prison!

It scares me how sick and warped people can be towards women and children, and towards people in general. Everyday we are hearing about fathers killing their pregnant wives, mothers poisoning their children, fathers dropping their own children off bridges to retaliate against mothers, and parents sexually assualting babies. That’s a damn shame. It amazes me how one could get to the point in their minds, where it is acceptable to beat and stomp a 2-year child like he or she is an adult on the streets. But at the same time, MOTHERS BE VERY CAREFUL who you are dating, and more importantly who allow to watch your children. Throughout this whole clip, where is the mother? This child is being tossed and beaten, and where’s his mother? Love is a beautiful thing, but their is no love more unconditional or special than that or your own child. So don’t sacrifice or jeapordize that love for that which comes from a man; because at the end of the day, the child will still be there, and Lord willing will still love you unconditionally!!!

To watch that child pull himself up from the floor after being tortured like that and FOLLOW THIS MAN just kills me. He has no where else to go. It’s heartbreaking. May God do whatever is necessary to make sure this doesn’t happen again. ((SIGH))

I tried to research this story, but apparently it is no longer news. The last reports are from the date of his arrest. Nothing has been said about the mother. The beating happened on Dec. 21st and when the police arrested him on Jan 7th, the boy still had bruises, which means the mother had to know something was going on. I hope she was arrested as well and the papers just didn’t deem it newsworthy.

I decided not to watch it, because I am uable to choke the life out of that man. As a nurse, I see abused children all of the time, unfortunately,however in a professional setting something can be done. I reserve the word hate just for these types of abusers.

As a person from Detroit It hurts me to see this. For this man to beat on somebody who could not do anything. I know when all this was going on the little boy had to be yelling and crying and there were people in the store and they did nothing just let the sh@* go on they are no better then the man who was doing the beating.
