January 17, 2008 Top Songs/Albums In The Land

Chris Brown had a rough start with his first single “Wall To Wall”, but with persistence and continued backing from his record label, Chris Brown has successfully beat the sophomore slump by having two songs in the Top 10 this week. His new single “With You” was produced by Stargate and sounds like everything else they produce (Irreplaceable, So Sick) but this goes to show that their formula, while hopelessly repetitive, is commercially successful. Time and time again I’ve learned to never underestimate the buying power of love-struck Teeny Boppers.

Here are the Top Songs in the land:
1. Flo Rida feat. T-Pain – Low
2. Alicia Keys – No One
3. Timbaland feat. One Republic – Apologize
4. Chris Brown feat. T-Pain – Kiss Kiss
5. Fergie – Clumsy
6. Chris Brown – With You
7. Finger Elecen – Paralyzer
8. Colbie Caillat – Bubbly
9. Jordin Sparks – Tattoo
10. Sean Kingston – Take You There

As far as the albums are concerned, Alicia Keys is back on top after being held off a couple of weeks by Radiohead. In this day and age, it is almost unheard of for an album to return to the #1 slot after relinquishing that position. This is a testament to how many people are buying her record and the appeal of As I Am. In other album news, after an astounding 69 weeks on the chart (That’s 16 months for you slow mathematicians), Fergie has returned back into the Top 10. Who knew the singing chick from The Black Eyed Peas would be such a breakout star?

Here are the Top Albums in the land:
1. Alicia Keys – As I Am
2. Radiohead – In Rainbows
3. Juno Official Soundtrack
4. Mary J. Blige – Growing Pains
5. Taylor Swift – Taylor Swift
6. NOW 26
7. Chris Brown – Exclusive
8. Eagles – Long Road Out Of Eden
9. Garth Brooks – Ultimate Hits
10. Fergie – The Dutchess

  • Now I have both the Chris Brown and the Alicia Keys album and I know why they are on the top of the charts. Both albums are very good especially A. Keys. I just love that song she has with John Mayer and I hope thats her next single.

  • CANT WAIT TO GET THAT JUNO SOUNDTRACK. BEST MOVIE THIS YEAR, SO FAR…

  • I like ‘With You’, because it’s age appropiate, and a bit refreshing considering his peers are all singing about sex…
Chris is what 19?… I think he’s doing great.. he’s not vulgar.. not getting into any trouble.. I like everything about him right now.

  • Hmmm…maybe I’ll check out lil Chris’s album. I just bought Fergie’s about a month ago. I wasn’t into the hype until I noticed she had released like 5 songs and they were all hits. I figured, the album might be alright. I was pleased. Alicia is the best by far. I’m not surprised at all that she’s back at #1.
