January 14, 2008 Marion Jones Sentenced To Jail!

Olympic track star Marion Jones was sentenced in a federal court Friday to six months in prison, two years of probation and community service for lying to federal prosecutors investigating the use of performance-enhancing substances. Marion said through her attorney that she would like to start serving her sentence as soon as possible, and Judge Kenneth Karas set March 11 as the “surrender date” unless a designated jail is able to accept her sooner.
Love muffins this is so tragic! Do you feel bad for Marion or do you think she got what she deserved?!

I don’t feel bad for her at all. She angrily denied the steroid use for years and then perjured herself under oath. And it wasn’t just lies about steroid use, she lied about her involvement in a check fraud scheme.

i feel bad because there are SO many other athletes out there using steroids, with strong evidence against them, yet charges have not been brought upon them. she asked the judge for probation because she is still nursing her 7mth old son, but nope he still sent her to jail.

@the check fraud-I don’t think she lied about her involvement. She lied about her KNOWLEDGE including her baby daddy-Millions were involved of other people’s money.
On some level I do feel bad for her. I would wanna do my time ASAP like Martha and dem. I’d be looking for a prison TODAY. I think she could totally turn this around. Mentoring athletes pressured to take performance enhancement drugs and of course lying under oath.

I think she has been punished enough. We have people how here having sex with children and they aren’t in jail yet. So no she has to be in her own head and deal with her own lie and sending her to jail isn’t going to solve anything.

I feel bad that she was such a talented athlete and she felt the need to use these performance enhancing drugs. But she did lie to a grand jury…and well you see what happens when black people lie in court…they send their asses right to jail no questions asked. God is good, and she will recover!

I feel bad for her, definitely. And like Muah Gorgeous said she did lie in court and has to suffer the consequences of lying while black.

I think it’s a tragedy that she felt the need to get involved in this mess, not that she got caught and penalized for it. I mean, I’m no angel myself and hopefully don’t sound self-righteous. When I’m doin dirt, I know there are possible consequences. I wouldn’t expect someone to feel sorry for me if I had to face punishment. I agree she needs to spin this into a positive and set herself as an example of how not to do things.

I used to be so amazed when I saw her run and win. As far as her baby daddy, she loved this nicca more than she loved herself. We are all one bad decision away from the penitentiary. Be careful of the choices you make in life.

this is ridiculous. she shouldn’t have done it, but SHE came clean with it. it wasn’t like the olympic committee busted her out. she admitted to it and apologized. they stripped her of her medals and that should be enough. how you gonna jail someone for this bullshit? pathetic.

I think her dumb ass shouldn’t had say anything. It been so long and all of a sudden she want to tell the truth. Now she goin to jail for something that all long time time ago. She should told the truth when she was will her husband (that when he told on her dumb ass. So ever since people been suspicion)

I think that she lied, and was wrong. On one hand, yes, she should face the consequences for lying, but on the other hand there are so many others who deserve to be in jail for much worse crimes. Either way she was a great role model for women and children alike and she disappointed us. period.

You know our society is f’d up.
You shoot roids and pass bad checks? Go to jail for 6 months.
You drive while drunk and endanger any adult or child in your path? Go to jail for 10 minutes.

As a huge fan of track and field and a huge fan of Marion Jones, I really do feel bad for her. The crazy thing is was that she was unbeatable BEFORE she began taking the drugs. It was if the drugs fueled her greed, or the greed of those around her. This too shall pass and she will be back, making an impact in some field.
