On Friday, Australian pop star known for her hit single, “Torn,” Natalie Imbruglia, announced the separation from her rocker husband, Daniel Johns, just a few days before their four year anniversary. While the couple released a statement that their decision was not made “lightly or quickly,” the statement read;

“While we are very sad that our marriage has ended, we want to make it clear that our parting is amicable and we remain friends.”

“Our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary,” they said in the statement. “We have simply grown apart.”

Imbruglia and Johns wish for privacy in this matter, and would like the media to respect their wishes, despite being a hot topic for Australian tabloids.

“We will not be making any further public statements whatsoever in regard to this very private matter,” the statement read. “We politely ask that people respect our sincere wishes in this regard.”
