January 2, 2008 Jessica Simpson Records Country Album?!
Jessica Simpson is getting back to her roots. The singer has begun recording a country album in Nashville, Billboard reports.
“I am a country girl,” she told the magazine. “I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to. I always wanted to wait until the time was right.”
She also adds
“Writing is a release for me,” she said. “It’s a way for me to tell my story. That’s not to say I wouldn’t record a song that I didn’t write. It’s just that it has been a while since I have opened the book.”
This should be interesting. I guess when your pop albums and movies aren’t selling, record a country album and hope for the best! Thoughts?

I dont think it’s such a bad thing, she may find her niche. B.Scott, I found you about a week ago on ONTD and I have been hooked ever since!!! I think you are stupendous!! It seems like a smart business move to me. She’ll never sell millions in pop, and will likely stand out more in country. But i TOTALLY agree with the other posters who said she’s just shadowing Carrie!

Country is a tough crowd and you rarely here about them acting up in public and what not. I don’t know if they will accept her over there. It was a big stretch for Kellie Pickler to make it. Two dumb blondes will be a bit much.
