After having their worst personal years, the pair seem to be doing perfectly fine when it comes to their music careers. Kanye whose mother died in November, earned eight nominations, including album of the year and rap album of the year (Graduation). Amy who has battled health problems all year, picked up six nods, including album of the year (Back to Black), song of the year and record of the year (”Rehab”), and best new artist.
Amy couldn’t escape criticism even while being celebrated today. Announcing one of her nominations, George Lopez said, “Can somebody wake her up around 6 this afternoon and tell her?” Leave the poor girl alone.. well at least for today!
