Did anyone catch last night’s Project Runway? It was so sad to see menswear designer, Jack Mackenroth, leave the show, due to a very contagious, drug-resistant staph infection on his face. We admire Jack’s openness with his sexuality and being HIV positive, as he was a wonderful role model in Season 4’s cast. Unfortunately, under doctor’s advice, it was was a tearful goodbye for all, but Mackenroth tells People magazine:
“I just got to a point where I couldn’t even concentrate. I was exhausted. As the bacterial infection spreads, within 48 hours, you get a fever. My work was suffering and I was like, ‘You know what? I really don’t want to leave but I can’t stay here.’ It was not an HIV related thing, but I have to be extra cautious.”
Mackenroth also confirmed that he’s been getting friendly with fellow Bravo cast member and former Top Chef contestant, Dale Levitski. Who wouldn’t want to see the reality show with the two of them? Make the comeback to television, boys!
After Jack left the show, costume designer, Chris March, made his return to take Jack’s place. Fortunately, for Chris, despite making a very dated, costume-like looking outfit that the judges didn’t like, he was not eliminated for a second time. Instead, we said ‘Auf Wiedersehen’ to Steven and his French maid at a funeral, unfinished dress.
