You know I haven’t been a fan of MJB in the distant past. Being from NYC, Brooklyn proper, I thought she was a little on the ghetto side, and I know ghetto! A lot of her music I ignored until I went and saw her as an act at the Essence Festival in New Orleans. My heart broke. She was on stage in an outfit that was crazy small for her. She had gained weight and I guess they didn’t change her clothes. It was a short set compared to a full concert and someone from back stage came out and put a folding chair on the stage for her to sit down on. I felt so bad for her. She kept telling us, the audience, that we shouldn’t worry about her she’ll be just fine, she’ll be all right. I wonder now if she was high at the time. Whatever, maybe she was, but she has come back rebounded! And I respect her! I have bought her new music, out today. I went out tonight and bought her newest CD and it is the hotness! As a woman who has been put through it and as a result had seroius self esteem issues I commend her. You go girl. And whatever she said, it’s from age and experience not to shut someone down. I respect it and appreciate it. Mariah and Beyonce cater to their audience, have they sung a thing that might be uplifting? That’s not their thing and I respect that as well. But Mary has been in a struggle, fighting the battle of her life and letting us all see it. All I’m saying, have they?
