October 19, 2007 Say What? Jill Scott Gets Gangsta!

Who pissed off Jilly?! A source who attended Jill Scott’s Hollywood concert performance Tuesday says that Jill snapped on an audience of fans Tuesday night right before she kicked off her performance
“People from the crowd screamed “I love you!” 3 times at the House of Blues Sunset Strip last night. Her response was “Shut the f*ck up or I will have you taken out of here and I’ll GIVE you your money back…security I’m serious”. She also said “I’m 35. I’m grown. Don’t tell me what to do” a few mins before her outburst…”Apparently several of the concert goers were put off by Jill’s actions and had to complain to the House of Blues about it all. And several folks reportedly looked disgusted and felt like the concert was ruined by the harsh words. I’m not sure what is up with my girl Jill. This really doesn’t sound like her. Maybe her recent divorce is getting to her. Thoughts?

Why would she tell someone who is telling her “I love you” to “Shut the F*ck up”? That’s not right. I mean, what drives a person to just turn like that? This reminds me of Justin Timberlake acting a damn fool every time someone asks him for an autograph. He gave my mom a mean mug when she asked for his autograph! Now, I don’t know why my mom wanted his autograph. She probably would have given it to my little sister, but still, wtf is the big deal? It makes you wonder what is really going on. Thank God these people are actually talented. because…unt uh…why the F would you lash out on someone who is trying to show you love, even if it was irritating you. Damn, and in front of every body? That’s gotta hurt. It makes me not want to meet any of my heroes. I don’t want egg on my face. Oh, and another thing, one time I was at a busta rhymes concert and he wanted the crowd to be quiet and this one girl was like super excited, she was screaming “busta I love you!” he had just performed “gimme some mo” which is a pretty exciting song. He told the girl if she didn’t shut up he was going to put his d*ck in her mouth. I was so embarrassed for her!

“I love you!” — “I’m 35. I’m grown. Don’t tell me what to do”
Something is missing. Where is the -being told what to do- part of the story for her to say that?
She probably wasn’t even talking to the people saying “I love you”.
I don’t know. I wasn’t there.

I was listening to Wendy Williams yesterday and a girl who went to the show said that there was one drunk chick who kept on screaming stuff out and kept on telling Jill what to sing next, etc. After a while Jill told her to stfu and the crowd had her back. All hearsay but it makes more sense than her ranting over fans saying “I love you”.
I’ve been to a Jill Scott concert and the crowd was crunk for her and she loved it!

I attended that concert at the HOB on Tuesday night and I was standing right in front of Jill and right next to the one drunken audience member that she told to “shut the fuck up!” She did not tell people who said, “I love you Jill” to shut the fuck up. Now come on, does that make sense? The audience member was out of control and sloppy drunk. She kept hollering, “Why did I get married?” She was also trying to tell Jill what to sing next. Jill told this on specific person, “You don’t tell me what to sing. I’m 35 years old and I worked for this.” Then the woman made an ugly remark to Jill and that’s when she told her to shut the fuck up and if she didn’t that she would have security remove her and give her money back. Then Jill blew her a kiss and did her thing. After Jill finished her song, she asked if everybody was ok and having a good time, then she specifically asked, “Where’s my girl? Is she all right?” Her friend informed Jill that she had chosen to leave. In my opinion Jill handled the situation well. This was her show. I’m from Philly too and I told my friends that people from Philly don’t play, because if you let people punk you, you will get punked. Jill was very lady like and nipped that situation in the bud. In fact, her concert was so spectacular that I went back on Saturday night. She blessed my soul.

I attended the Jill Scott concert at the HOB on Tuesday night and witnessed the incident to which you are referring. I was standing next to the woman who was “SCREAMING” why did I get married. I’m sure this was in reference to the T. Perry movie in which Jill had a role. I believe the screaming fan thought she was paying homage to Jill but due to her screaming she irritated Jill and the audience members who were in earshot. Jill’s actions were necessary and appropriate. If this person continued she would have ruined the concert. And by the way the concert was amazing.

I wasn’t there however my friend was and explained the incident. Jill is a class act. How do you handle a screaming drunk?

It’s funny that people who never know the entire story, are the one who always want to tarnish someone by stating facts that just arent true. If you was not at the concert then you should not have anything to say. You are NOT a witness, just causing confusion. Jill is talented and well-spoken lady who knows how to handle herself.
