October 15, 2007 Why Did I Get Married? Opens At #1 ($21.5 million)

According to studio estimates issued Sunday, Tyler Perry’s romantic comedy-drama Why Did I Get Married? sold $21.5 million worth of tickets on only 2,011 screens (most major releases show on three times that amount of screens!) It ended the two-week run at #1 of the family comedy The Game Plan, which came in at No. 2 with $11.5 million. Congrats to Tyler Perry and Janet Jackson!

  • As Jay Z says men lie, women lie, numbers don’t. So many critics and people underestimate Tyler’s money earning power. I just love it when folks do that and then BAM!!! They better recognize Mr. Perry ain’t playing!!! Make that money Tyler, he is such a humble and great dude. He gives alot back to charity and is making some major deals. He now owns his own studio in Atlanta, yep he doing it right!!!

  • This movie was really good and if your not a fan of his other movies you can’t help but walk away from this one …just loving it…
