September 27, 2007 New Music: Mary J. Blige
Mary J. Blige just debuted her lead single for her upcoming album Growing Pains and all I can say is that I’m less than pleased. “Just Fine” is an upbeat song about being happy with yourself. While I can appreciate the sentiment behind the song, it came across as “just boring”. And the lyrics are not as sophisticated as would have liked.
I’m a Mary J. Blige fan but I have to tell the truth. Unlike other people, I don’t think MJB necessarily has to do sad songs to be successful (her last album was the business and it was happy), but this just lacks effort and inspiration. I’m disappointed! Hope she comes with fire for the next single! Next time she should save these kinda songs for album fillers!

I like the beat.. I mean it’s kinda cool. Reminds me of a Michael song back in the 80’s.
I was hoping for more of a stronger song as the first release. I hope this is not another “Love and Life” album. We all know how that turned out. CRAP! Good Luck Mary

Boo! What are you listening to? This song is hot! Maybe it’s an age thing. Mary and I are the same age. You gotta love the hook though ” I like what I see when I’m looking at me, when I’m walking past the mirror” When you past 30, that is REAL BIG.

I like it!! Carefree and fun song…Mary can be full of drama sometimes although I love her to death but this is nice!!!
