Love muffins I have realized why I keep having relapses with Mr. “Greenlight” and “Wipe Me Down”……… it’s just something about his “Backstroke” that has me coming back for more. I was listening to Teedra Moses’ “Backstroke” today and it dawned on me that’s exactly what it is; his backstroke has broken me rendering me defenseless! Take me higher lord! (B. Scott shakes his head!)

Christina Aguilera: Move Out The Way…

xtina-houstons081407.jpg

… there’s a baby on aboard! A very pregnant Christina Aguilera stepped out with her parents Jim and Shelly Kearns and her younger half-brother Michael to grab a bite to eat at Houston’s restaurant in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Is getting pregnant the new chic thing to do in Hollywood and I just missed the memo?

B. Scott Revisits: “My Life”

I don’t think I’m alone when I say that my favorite Mary J. Blige album is “My Life”. Although during the recording process, Mary J. was at a low point emotionalyl, battling drug and alcohol abuse, the music she created was so pure and soulful. Like Billie Holliday and Donny Hathaway who also infused their music with the deep pain of their personal lives, Mary J. Blige took her depression and created an album that critics and fans alike consider to be her greatest work to date. This once again proves that out of great pain can come great art.

My Life was certified 3X platinum by the RIAA in December 1996. In 2003, the album was ranked number 279 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. It’s Blige’s only album on the list. Revist My Life!

P.S. After completing the My Life album, The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul also covered the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, classic hits “Natural Woman” for the New York Undercover soundtrack so I tacked that on the end. Enjoy Love Muffins!

Music News: Nicole Scherzinger and Jennifer Hudson

nicole-scherzinger1.jpg

Nicole Scherzinger’s debut solo album isn’t due until October 16th but the album tracks are starting to leak. The newest leak is “Super Villain” which was produced by Mad Scientist and has more of a Pop flair than the R&B/Hip Hop feel she has on the lead single “Whatever You Like”. I think the song is alright, but more of an album filler than a single. Take a listen.

P.S. If you were wondering who the chick is singing the chorus on Will.i.am’s new single “Got It From My Mama“. It’s none other an Nicole Scherzinger. Will.i.am also produced a track titled “Baby Love” for Nicole’s upcoming album. Watch your back Fergie!

In the newest issue of Fashion Rocks Magazine, Jennifer Hudson discussed the specifics of her new album and said:

“It’s not hip-hop” she says firmly. “Let’s just say that. I don’t have anything against it, but it’s not the music that I like to sing. There’s some pop in there, and some R&B-soul, but,” she pauses for emphasis, “not hip-hop”
