We were thrown for a loop last night when the dancers randomly chose their partners for this week’s dance, and not to mention the Wade Robson piece we had to watch ten times! Hopefully this format won’t be too taxing in the weeks to come. Here’s the rundown!
Dominic and Jamie were a big no no all around. This dance was just not for him, and from the costumes, we felt like they should be on a mountain top yodeling instead of doing a romantic waltz. Plus, the music was too powerful for what should’ve been a regal routine. The judges tore Dominic to pieces, which was hard to watch for his sake, so we hope this isn’t a sign for what could happen tomorrow night!
Kameron is no Dominic, and the chemistry between him and Sabra last night was not what we’re used to. The judges were kind of right in their criticism of his technique, but their praise of Sabra was so on the mark. She’s like a breath of fresh air. When you say the words natural talent, you’re talking about Sabra. We wouldn’t be surprised if she’s one of the last two girls standing!
Lacey and Danny were sex personified. Their routine gave us goosebumps! Lacey turns up her inner sexpot no matter what she does on stage, and it really worked for last night’s samba. Plus, that song (”Hip hip chin chin”) was so perfect. The judges didn’t seem overly impressed with Danny’s performance, but we thought they made a nice on-stage couple!
Lauren and Pasha were so bad. The hip hop thing just doesn’t work for many of the dancers, which is perfectly fine when you consider that they’re mostly amazing at everything else! Watching Pasha was just comical. Please. All SYTYCD choreographers: No more hip hop for Pasha!
Sara and Neil gave us a little disco. Their routine was just plain fun! Neil’s a great dancer, but Sara’s so magnetic. She draws your attention in and manages to hold it the entire time. There’s something to be said for a breaker who can move like that!
Of all the solos last night, Sabra and Lauren really summed up all the emotion and beauty in the piece. Check them out here:
And just because we loved, loved, loved this routine, here’s the Adam Shankman choreographed piece for “You Can’t Stop The Beat”. No, this was not on last night’s episode, but something about this dance literally had us rejoicing! Check it out again if you missed it:
