June 21, 2007 Isiah Washington: ABC “Fired the Wrong Guy!”

.
Isaiah Washington, whose contract was not renewed for season four of Grey’s Anatomy, is now saying ABC made a mistake letting him go.”They fired the wrong guy,” the actor tells his hometown paper, the Houston Chronicle. “I have to clear my name. I’ll start from the beginning. I’m telling everything.”
In case you missed it, Washington got in an altercation last season with co-star Patrick Dempsey. During this dispute, he allegedly referred to castmate T.R. Knight as a deragatory homosexual term. He later apologized, checked into rehab, met with gay leaders and released a public-service announcement denouncing hate speech.
Now he says that Knight exploited the incident and that he promoted his one-time use of the homophobic slur to damage Washington’s reputation.
Washington tells the Chronicle that he was wronged and may file a lawsuit. “My livelihood, my honor and dignity and my name have been so challenged,” he says and adds, “I was not fired for making homophobic slurs. I did everything I said I would do. I offered to go to counseling, to do a public service announcement. I wanted everyone to know I was remorseful. I’m not angry. I’m disappointed.”
Um, if you were not fired for making deragatory comments, what exactly were you fire for, Isiah? Someone needs to man up and move on.

Now he looks like more of an @ss. If someone called him a racial slur or another derogatory term, he would not expect them to stay on payroll. He ruined his own reputation when he opened his mouth.
