It’s official! Isaiah Washington, who plays Dr. Burke on America’s #1 show, will not be returning to Grey’s Anatomy this fall. ABC has confirmed that his contract has not been renewed. He released a statement through his publicist saying, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it any more.” Aren’t publicist supposed to make you sound good?

I believe people have the right to say whatever they want but they should be willing to accept the consequences. The truth is simply this. If anyone else in the real world went to their workplace and screamed out prejudice comments (whether they be sexist, racist, homophobic), they would probably get fired. He deserves the same. To be honest I wasn’t expecting him to get fired because the show is #1 and Hollywood usually only cares about money. I’m glad to see ABC show some backbone.

I would think that he would know better than to show any type of hatred or ignorance to anybody. Don’t feel sorry for him. Not one bit.

I am torned with this issue simply because I believe a person has a right to say what they want. It was his 1st amendment right to say what he wanted to despite what others may think. Of course he said a very offensive word to a group of people that thought it was disrepectful. I am not taking sides! Perhaps he wanted to get fired and out of his contract. We’ll find that out down the road.
