Sorry skinny girls, but the loveliest ladies in Hollywood clearly have a little meat on their bones these days. Jennifer Hudson, America Ferrera, Sara Ramirez, Laila Ali and Jordin Sparks all have one thing in common—they’re big girls! And we all know what I mean by big girls. I mean the kind that look like women, not skeletons.

If anyone is the Queen Bee of the Big Girl Club, it’s JHud. From reality show reject to Oscar winner, she has seen her rise to stardom in no time flat! Jennifer blew us away in Dreamgirls, and her performance garnered critical and commercial acclaim along with awards. She’s graced magazine covers, teamed up with amazing artists for her own upcoming album and she’s secured a position for herself in the acting game. She’s hot like fire!

America Ferrera

America Ferrera has become the face of all the ugly Bettys in this world. She started out as Ana Garcia in Real Women Have Curves, and she’s definitely been one of the youngest Hollywood starlets to prove that. In just about five years, America has exploded over the scene! Ugly Betty has presented her with numerous awards (a SAG and an Oscar) and accolades. She has a busy year coming up with her roles in various movies, further filming of UB and a wedding to plan if the story of her engagement is true. Do it to it America!

Sara Ramirez

Anyone who’s a Grey’s fan will remember a certain scene where she dances around in her underwear! According to her, nobody ever said she was “too heavy“. Because of the way that scene was received by audiences, this could pave the way for more big girls in their skivvies for something other than a Playtex bra commercial! Her biggest success before the ABC drama was a 2005 Tony Award for her role in Spamalot, so we know she has a wide range of talent. We hope to see more of her in the years to come!

Laila Ali

She may not have won Dancing With The Stars, but Laila Ali proves she is a knock out inside and out of the boxing ring. With twenty-four fights under her belt (and twenty-four wins), she’s obviously not a woman to step to unless you’re ready to rumble! She tore up the dance floor on ABC’s celebrity dancing show this year, and even though she didn’t win, she looked gorgeous each and everytime and moved her body like a natural. I guess the floating like a butterfly, stinging like a bee thing runs in the family!

Jordin Sparks

We all know her as the youngest person to take the title of America’s Idol. Not only that, but she’s already making a fashion statement after a short time. She ended the show in a Badgley Mischka gown pulled just for her. If that’s not big time for someone who is so new to the game, then we don’t know what is! Couture is not just for the Twiggys of this world anymore! Besides her beauty, she’s a talented singer, and American Idol is just the beginning. We’ll see what Miss Sparks has in store for us.

Whether they know it or not (or whether they want to or not), they’re breaking Hollywood ideals and stomping out their respective competition at the same time. Plus, they’re beautiful.
