[MASEKESE, Malawi] Madonna left Malawi on Sunday after a six day visit. The superstar and husband Guy Ritchie took custody of David Banda, a 20 month old Malawi boy they found in an orphanage last October. On the agenda for the visit was the opening of a new daycare center being funded by Madonna, trips to several programs for street children, and visits to various orphanages. Since taking custody of David, Madonna has come under fire by several coalition groups who argue that she used her star power to circumvent Malawi adoption procedures but locals are glad that Madonna is drawing attention to the country that is suffering drought and hunger. Madonna and Ritchie are currently being reviewed for the adoption of David by Malawi Welfare Services to assess if they are good parents for little David.
