April 20, 2007 Matt Dusk: The Best Thing Since Apple Pie!
Matt Dusk’s motto must be all or nothing! On his second album Back In Town, Matt Dusk matches his impeccable taste with his formidable talent. To put it mildly, Matt Dusk represents style and sophistication. I can’t explain what his music does for me when I need to unwind and relax! The last time I felt this way about an artist was when I was introduced to the incredible Diana Krall.
According to his official website:
With Back in Town, the Toronto-born Dusk pulled out all the stops. First, he recorded much of the album in Los Angeles, at the fabled Capitol Studio in Studio A—where the walls have resonated with the voices of singers such as Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin and Ella Fitzgerald. Then, as if that magical setting wasn’t enough, several renowned arrangers including Patrick Williams and Sammy Nestico were brought in to provide original arrangements for classic numbers like “More” and “As Time Goes By.” On top of that, the legendary Al Schmitt, winner of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammy Awards, recorded and mixed all of the album’s big band tracks.
Please pour yourself a glass of 1997 Peter Michael Cuvee Indigene Chardonnay and listen to these three tracks from Matt Dusk’s album Back In Town.
